Prime Dreadwing’s voice actor, Tony Todd of Candyman fame, really made the character iconic. There’s just something about Todd’s delivery that conveys Dreadwing’s inner struggle with his own sense of honor, and his loyalty to Megatron. Dreadwing was one of the more tragic characters in Prime, and I was really sad to see him killed off.

"Darkwing believed all life was suffering, and was determined to make everyone around him feel worse than he did." I can't believe 80's Transformers predicted the average social media user, wow.

"Do not ever make me regret which one of you I spared." Megatron's line after killing Dreadwing. One of the most intimidation moments for Prime Megatron, and by far a better catalyst for a loyal Starscream than what happened in Energon.

The prime version of dreadwing is seriously a heroic and unique decepticon like armada starsceam and many other idw and shattered glass characters,his well written character and honrobale, skills and working with his enimes for the good,and this is how you make heroic decepticon,too bad his death was so tragic

What hurts so much about the death of TF Prime Dreadwing is that Megatron valued him so much, he gave him multiple chances to back down from attempting to kill Starscream, and when he was forced to kill him, Megatron instantly turned his rage at losing such a valued combatant on Starscream, basically telling him that if he even SLIGHTY tried to betray them, Megatron would end Starscream himself on the spot with no warning.

I got into so many arguments about Dreadwing's arc back when Prime was airing. A lot of the older fans were so cynical and viewed his death as a "waste", but for me it was the best execution of the character's arc. Dreadwing found out the truth, made his choice and followed it through to the end. And in doing so, he showed very clearly why Megatron wasn't a leader worth following. Dude went out being true to himself.

Can we please talk about the fact that Prime Dreadwing was voiced by Tony Todd!? As in Candyman, and Kurn aka Worfs brother from Star Trek!

As a fan of both transformers prime and generation 2,dreadwing was honestly the best part of them,g2 dreadwing has a unique heavy bulky design,and prime dreadwing has one of the best color schemes and a great personality,his end was so tragic like the other heroic decepticons like armada starscream

The one disappointment with Prime Dreadwing: he never got to meet the Predacons. A fight between these warriors would have been epic. Prime Dreadwing’s design reminds me of Robotech’s Alpha fighters. With blue and green I was expecting a red variant before the end of Prime.

The one thing I like with Prime Dreadwing was that in the story arc he never actually held any ill will, or anger towards the Autobots for killing his brother. I believe he even found how they treated the defeat of his brother, and even how Prime showed sympathy for his loss as honorable, and that he said his brother had died honorably in combat. It always felt like Dreadwing in prime had been modeled somewhat in how Starscream in energon was cast to be.

For those in question about why Megatron killed Dreadwing, I heard an interesting theory from Emperor Kumquat that explained it. Despite Megatron’s opinion about Dreadwing, there are reasons why Megatron ultimately chose Starscream over Dreadwing. First is the power scale. Dreadwing was much stronger than Starscream, meaning that should he turn against Megatron, he would have a better chance at killing Megatron than Starscream ever did. And secondly was his personality. Dreadwing was more subtle when it came to his disobedience, unlike Starscream. While Dreadwing didn’t have as many defiances against Megatron’s orders unlike Starscream. However, the times he did disobey were more impactful. Furthermore, where Megatron could easily monitor and intimidate Starscream due to his sycophantic nature and cowardice, Dreadwing was free-spirited and independent, making him much more unpredictable and harder to control than Starscream. With both of those combined, in long run, Dreadwing would’ve proved more liable and threatening to Megatron’s leadership, unlike Starscream, who remained loyal until the end.

Prime Dreadwing was everything Energon Sixshot should of been. A brother of a deceased character who is a repaint and wants revenge while Megatron hides the full details what happens to his late brother. At least they did something with Dreadwing and let him learn about his bro turning into a zombie ghost, Sixshot died thinking his brother's killer was Optimus.

Dreadwing has one of the more bizarre histories from being a duo of miserable nihilists to a singular bot or the combined form of both vehicles..but what is certain is that you gotta watch the skies. Because dread always waits in the wings

Y’know, Wind and Wing’s relationship is kind of wholesome. In a twisted, “we should not be together for the sake of the world” kind of way, but… wholesome.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Prime version of both Dreadwing and Skyquake are used as the foundation of future incarnation of the characters. I actually had this idea of them being rivals of Jetfire and Whirl after the two defect to the Autobots. (With the idea of Whirl starting off a Decepticon and actually being a central part of the overall cause, Megatron using him and his story to rally against the caste system.) Eventually their fanatical loyalty to Megatron has them start to go against their personal sense of honor.

I love the Prime version of Dreadwing for more than one reason, though perhaps the biggest was the fact that he was voiced by a returning actor from the Live Action movies as well as the Candyman himself, Tony Todd.

Dreadwing is such an underrated character.

Hearing that a version of Starscream also had a traitorous underling is hilarious to me. Great work on the video, always love learning more about this franchise.

For some reason, G2 Dreadwing will always be "my" Dreadwing, but I agree that the TFP version is easily the standout example of the lot. Hope to see a version of that character represented in the future.

"Prime" was my introduction to Dreadwing and he was a pretty interesting character. Maybe someday we'll have another incarnation that'll take some cues from this version. I also find it interesting how one of his G1 components was named Darkwing, since whenever I hear that name I think of the Disney character Darkwing Duck. Maybe that's why Hasbro lost the rights to that name.

Loved Dreadwind & Darkwing in G1. They were great characters and cool Transformers for being Powermasters and being able to combine into the Dreadwing super-jet. G2 Dreadwing was absolutely awesome; one of the standouts in all G2. Dreadwing in Transformers: Prime was my favourite incarnation of the character. A Decepticon rarity for being a formidable & honourable warrior, an efficient second-in-command, loyal to Megatron and a tragic character. He gave his all to the Decepticon cause…both him and his twin brother Skyquake…only to ultimately realise that were just expendable pawns. As much as Megatron valued Dreadwing’s loyalty, Megatron considered Starscream’s treacherous, conniving nature to be of far greater value in the long term, regardless of the damage. Disillusioned and betrayed, Dreadwing saw nothing left for him in this world. It’s one of the most tragic character-arcs in all Transformers.

TFP is my favourite mainly because he's the only one I knew until day. He was also awesome and I loved both him and his brother when I was a kid.

I'd say that Prime Dreadwing is the best version, a Decepticon with a true sense of Honor, I hope we see more versions of him in the comics soon.

Dreadwind always has a special place in my childhood - he was introduced to me whilst he was at the helm of the letters page of the UK Transformers comic when I began collecting it and I always remember being amused at some of his replies to those who wrote in and ditto Hi-Test whenever he got a rare chance to talk too.

Dreadwing's likeness to Depthcharge and being quite similar to Dinobot is so cool. Holding Megatron to his word was such a great moment, like an advisor to a king

As a fan of not only Generation 1,but also as a fan of both Transformers Prime and Generation 2 Dreadwing is still one of my favorite Transformer and Decepticon/Decepticon Power Master.also one of my favorite Decepticon from Transformers Prime was Dreadwing who is not only a Decepticon not only a Noble Demon but also a Honorable Villain who fought the Autobots as well as Optimus Prime in the Transformers Prime saga but also shows his opponents respect as well, also thanks for sharing Chris keep up the good work and have a nice day.

TF Prime Dreadwing is easily one of my favourite characters in that show, a very pleasant change from the mustache twirling villainy of Megatron and Starscream in that show. I also really need to something about the missing arms on my movie Dreadwing figure, no idea what happened to those.

Out of all the incarnations who share the name Dreadwing, Transformers Prime Dreadwing is my favorite incarnation. In fact, I have a toy version of him. It's too bad he was killed and Starscream was spared.

The Generation 2 Smokescreen and Dreadwing toys have been recolored to make a lot of new characters, including Starscream and BB from Beast Wars II

I love the combiner toys for these guys I used them for my galvatronus and they look amazing.

I would love to see Dreadwing in a movie I remember him from the 07 game as not being as annoying as Payload or Longarm lol but that fire ring of death attack was terrible for me. Dreadwing in Prime really proved we should have more non cartoonishly evil Decepticons.

Whether he is the combined jet of the two Decepticons Darkwing and Dreadwind, or the twin brother of Prime Skyquake, there is no denying that Dreadwing always has and always will be terrorizing the skies of the Transformers war.

G1 designs and names with TF Prime personalities is how I'd characterize these brothers if I ever make my own Transformers movie series someday.

I always liked Prime Dreadwing and always found myself kind of disappointed in how his story ended. The direction they were taking his character in was genuinely interesting and I felt they could have done more with it. Also, hey Hasbro, Legacy Dreadwing when? Asking for a friend.

Prime Dreadwing's death will never not piss me off. Great character. One of my favorite in one of the franchises very best Decepticon rosters.

It's one thing when a character is just a regular mustache twirling villain, or a generic goon. It's another, when you make them honorable and loyal to a cause, only to have them question it all based on the actions of others. Dino - Bot, Armada Starscream, Dreadwing, even a couple Decepticons in the Netflix series. That's what makes them memorable. Skyquake just got a new toy in the Legacy Evolution line, I'm sure Dreadwing will be following.

As influential as the TFP version is, I’m really hoping for an updated version of the g2 figure (complete with a new Smokescreen, of course).

I miss the Powermasters/Godmasters, they were so freaking cool, a shame that Hasbro doesn´t take more risks with the innovation of the franchise

As always Prime have a lot of my favorite versions of any TF, and Dreadwing is no different, I love his characterization in TFP, he was a loyal warrior, almost a samurai type, and different to many cons, he was actually very loyal to Megatron, sadly also an honorable warrior which is a rare thing between Cons, make him one of my favorites in the show, I actually was super sad when he died, but non the less he ended letting a huge mark on me and many TF fans, I think if they keep bringing back Dreadwing, I hope they keep these elements one way of another.....also I love his many rivalries in the show, for a character who didn't last too long, he cultivate a lot of interesting relationships, from his love for his Brother Skyquake, his hatred for Starscream, his rivalry with Wheeljack and Optimus and eventual respect he form with Optimus, this version of Dreadwing is easily my favorite of all.

Always wanted a G1 Dark wing.. Back in 85 I was going to Blackpool for a 2 week holiday and as the coach was traveling down the road we passed by an airbase where an airshow was taken place and 3 R.A.F. Tornado GR1s buzzed the coach and I instanlty fell in love with that aircraft so when hastak released a transformer that turned into 1 I had to have it but sadly never got him.

I always love the Transformers Prime version of Dreadwing, I never knew that their is other versions of Dreadwing cause when I look him up, it only shows Transformers Prime and that's fine

I love the G1 version of Dreadwing. I love how they turn up at restaurants and eat every bit of food there is! I also loved the letters page. Hi Test and Dreadwind had awesome banter. They are superb as God Masters aswell.

Funny story, I was thinking of taking up stop motion as a hobby a few years ago, so I went to this comic book store to find more transformers. While I was there, I found both Dreadwind and Darkwing, and I picked up Dreadwind, thinking he looked like an existential guy, and then I picked up Darkwing, thinking these two would make cool brother characters, and then I get home and low and behold, that's exactly what they are. Here's to hoping that Dreadwing and Skyquake get some kind of retool for Legacy, seeing as their prime figures are prone to breakage.

My favorite is the Super God Masterforce version. The writing for them reminded me of Cobra Comander. Delusions of Grandeur. Technically speaking very powerful, (like Cobra Commander's technology and size of his army), but not skilled enough or smart enough to be successful long term.

Darkwing Duck is most likely why they have trouble maintaining the name.

Ha, I just recently got the movie drone version since it's the same type of jet and deco as the mythical 'Ghost of Kyiv' rumors from early in the Russian invasion of the Ukraine. Great episode, as always!!

IMO the most interesting versions by far were Hydra and Buster, though I suppose there's an argument to be made for whether they should be counted with the other Dreadwings at all. Prime Dreadwing and the Marvel brothers have good points that I would definitely incorporate into an "ultimate" / "amalgamated" version, but the idea of two really fucked up humans completely buying into the japanese G1 Decepticons whole destructive deal has a ton of potential, esp. in contrasting a relatively positive relationship with each other to their attitude towards all other humans. Plus their designs are some of the best TF humans have ever looked IMO.

Prime Dreadwing was cool. I really wanted him to pull a Dinobot and fully switch sides, which I did think was going to happen. It's messed up that his brother is *still* shambling around in that pocket dimension.

I really love that Hasbro and Takara brought back many of the best G2-original designs for Robots in Disguise and Car Robots. They deserved a second chance.

It's kind of funny how movieverse Dreadwing is killed for treachery by the Transformers' number one go-to traitor.

Given the sparse amount of interesting human (or at least organic alien) antagonists, Dreadwings human pilot duo’s do seem very interesting!

I knew him from Prime, but this character seriously has a lot of history. Let’s see if the Prime version is the one used from now on or if any of the other versions surpass him.

In 1994 when my mum and dad got me Dreadwing for Christmas that year I was stoked to get another Transformer figure that was still for me anyway a continuation of the original G1 toys, but over the years I have come to really like the Prime version too as the over all story ark in that series showed that not all Decepticons are one minded world dominated cybertronieans. Tony Todd did a great job to bring the character a great sense of honor too.

I love the Prime version of Dreadwing. You could easily have new versions of him exist in continuities with the G1 Dreadwing, if you change the G1 name to Darkwind. It keeps the naming convention of the original, just with the other halves of *Dark*wing and Dread*wind*.
