Hi Dan, you were asking me ; regarding the two choices I have in mind of new bikes ; between ; the Transition sentinel V2 & the Forbidden Druid " you were asking about the type of terrain I like to ride the most & my answer is natural trails the way a mountain bike was intended riding of the cuff & occasionally some bike park trails ; freeriding & rocky single track !
@FanatikBikeCo
@FanatikBikeCo 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew, I think that if you're going to the bike park to ride downhill trails and freeride type riding with drops and jumps and things, possibly the added travel of the Sentinel may be the way to go. If those things are a very small part of your riding, and going fast natural trails is your main gig, either one will be great but the Druid could be really cool. That suspension design does cool things to get rid of bumps in the trail! Cheers - Dan at Fanatik

Sweet bike. I’m also interested in that new Sentinel. I’m on the fence size wise tho. I’m 5’9” with a long torso & the medium just seems like the top tube length would make the cockpit feel cramped with sitting & pedaling. Are you still comfortable on the size Medium or do you wish you sized up to a large?
@FanatikBikeCo
@FanatikBikeCo 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, sorry, just saw this! I am totally comfortable on the medium, and am running a 35mm stem. If you wanted to lengthen it you could run a 40-50mm stem. Cheers, Dan at Fanatik

I fall in the mid too. Lol I’m like between 5ft10-11 and I think I’m going to go with a medium. I’ll be doing a good amount at snowshoe. Would you recommend the Sentinel or scout for me if I’m doing 50/50 trail and park.. hard question I know... also do you run medium on the scout?
@FanatikBikeCo
@FanatikBikeCo 2 жыл бұрын
I run medium bikes across the board, including the Scout. My inseam is 30" and my arm-span is 5'10". Your call on those two, they're essentially the same bike, one with 27.5" and one with 29". Maybe if you prefer jump trails, the Scout, and if you prefer bumpy trail riding, the Sentinel. Cheers - Dan at Fanatik

Hi Dan, Big dilemma !!! Forbidden Druid or the Transition sentinel V2 ? Nice problem to have ! Your thoughts ;
@FanatikBikeCo
@FanatikBikeCo 4 жыл бұрын
Oh boy, that is a good problem. They are similar enough in intended use that I might say "whichever piques your fancy," but that's probably not what you were hoping for. One easy way to answer it would be to say "whichever we can get in stock first," because chances are we're a ways out on both. However, if time is not a pressing issue, and you want some actual feedback on which might make you happiest at the end of the day (or week, or month, or year at this point), give us a holler so we can get a better idea of what kind of trails you ride, how you like to ride, etc, etc. Sales@fanatikbike.com or 844-326-2845 are the best way to go about that, and then we can check into availability too. Hope that helps a little. Thanks! - Dan at Fanatik

Dan's the man...how would this be from a Hightower LT...wonder if I could do a parts swap and just get the frame.
@FanatikBikeCo
@FanatikBikeCo 4 жыл бұрын
I owned a Hightower (regular travel but with a 160mm fork) and although the bike was fast, I never felt like it was the most fun bike. This one is so poppy I actually ride slower in an effort to find more bumps to jump off of! You should be able to do a parts swap with minimal issue. That bike uses an integrated headset (not sure if Sentinel frame comes with headset, we only sell complete customes) and you should check seat-post diameter. Cheers - Dan at Fanatik

Hi Dan, I ride a lot of natural trails ! You've riden both the New Scout & the New Transition sentinel V2 which is the better all-round bike ? I'm 6/6 '1 my previous bike was a Yeti SB 5.5 turq custom build ! I'm swaying towards the Sentinel V2 ! Your thoughts would be welcome 👍🌞☀️🚵🌲🌲🌲
@FanatikBikeCo
@FanatikBikeCo 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew. At your height, I think you may enjoy the Sentinel more. I primarily say that because the majority (not all, but most) of my friends who are over 6' tend to like 29'ers more. That said, they are similar bikes in terms of looks, suspension design, travel, and geometry, so if you know that you are looking for the ride characteristics that a 27.5" wheel affords (snappier cornering, more playful feel, etc) then I'd say the Scout! We can only sell Transition as complete custom builds (not frame only or Transition's build kits) but if that's what you're in the market for, check out our Bike Builder: www.fanatikbike.com/products/bike-builder Let us know if you have any more Qs! I’m the same size as you and just got this bike. I also went with medium. I’m curious about your bar length and rise. How did you determine that? The 800mm is definitely too wide for me. I’m running my old 760 bars and those are much more comfortable for me. (Prob could go with 780) but I’m intrigued by the bigger rise bars. Curious how you calculate what rise would work for someone.
@FanatikBikeCo
@FanatikBikeCo 2 жыл бұрын
Rise is totally just personal preference and what you're used to. I like the higher rise bars because it makes it easier to manual and get your weight back on steep trails. Higher rise is also a good way to increase the stack height (say to make you more upright while seated pedalling) without decreasing a bike's reach (which putting stem spacers on does). @FanatikBikeCo
@FanatikBikeCo 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Markus. There's a few things to take into consideration aside from just your height. Things like a very long arm-span can push someone who splits the sizes to a larger bike, or a very short in-seam pushing you towards a smaller one. I'd spend some time comparing the geo of your Trek to the Sentinel, and try to determine what you might like different about a new bike. Hopefully that helps a little. If not, shoot us an email at sales@fanatikbike.com Best - Dan at Fanatik

@@FanatikBikeCo Dan. Got my GX Sentinel and I'm STOKED on it. Only gripe is my water bottle cage has the bottle sitting high (even a small bottle) so it rattles on the frame. What cage are you running? I'm also on a size medium. Thanks!
@FanatikBikeCo
@FanatikBikeCo 4 жыл бұрын
@@Bobandashleigh Good question. www.fanatikbike.com/products/wolf-tooth-components-morse-stainless-steel-cage The Wolftooth Morse cage is what's in the video, which allows you to move your bottle cage up and down a bit. We are currently out of stock, but have 20 on order, so if you place an order we'll get it out to you as soon as we have it. I actually am currently running this one, which also fits and has the benefit of having a tool built in: www.fanatikbike.com/products/specialized-zee-cage-2-w-tool-right-side Oh, and lastly, I use a 22 ounce bottle. The Specialized cage will fit a 26 ounce bottle, but it touches the frame like you mention so I don't like to run it. The Morse cage may very well work with the larger bottle, although I have not tried it. www.fanatikbike.com/products/fanatik-logo-water-bottle Cheers - Dan at Fanatik

Curious to know what crank arms length you went with on the Eewings?
@FanatikBikeCo
@FanatikBikeCo 4 жыл бұрын
170! Good middle ground. In all the research I can find (mostly college cycling teams) doesn't seem like length significantly increases power output/efficiency/etc, and I hate pedal strikes. I've actually run 165mm cranks on a trail bike before (feels funny at first but works fine), but these only come as 170 or 175.
