Transperth A-series Train Enters Unelectrified Perth Station Platform 3, Causing Massive Disruptions

On the evening of the 22nd of January 2023, an A-series train was accidentally released onto the unelectrified Perth Station Platform 3 which is only used for the Australind service. This occurred just before the end of a Stadium Event and just before the Australind's arrival, resulting in passengers from Bunbury disembarking at McIver and passengers for Bunbury being forced onto a replacement coach after waiting for two hours. Crews tried to couple the diesel Australind onto the A-series to pull the train out but to no avail. It was left there overnight and I believe it was cleared somehow on the morning of the 23rd of January and sent for repairs.
This event caused great disruption to other train services, with Airport Line trains becoming Midland Line trains, Armadale Line running through with the Fremantle Line, and Thornlie Line trains terminating at platform 9. A rather redundant train-replacement bus route 901 operated between Perth Busport and East Perth Station via Perth, McIver and Claisebrook stations. This video looks at the stuck train and the disruption since I was lucky enough to be there at the time as I was trying to film some stadium bus services which I still did later on.
Filmed on: 22/01/2023.

I can only assume the reason why the Australind could not pull the train is because the brakes were locked because they are air brakes and the A series train has no power to regenerate air to release the brakes. It could also be a health and safety issue with the pantograph being as it was, you don't want to cause a electrical hazard. (Although you did show that they managed to get the pantograph down eventually) If they remove it overnight they are able to turn off the electrical power to the tracks if they wanted to.

It gets used by staff who have to start/finish their shifts before/after the trains are running, and for storage of some PTA vehicles (which have to be parked somewhere). But yes, there are some employees who don't use the public transport, even though they work literally at at a train station.

Have you seen the Wikipedia page? The SMU is described to be in the family of "B-series" trains, which are the Perth equivalant, so they actually fall under our model of them. The Transperth B-series entered service 4 YEARS before Queensland's did, and the A-series 3 years before.

Mistakes happen, but the driver should have been aware to not entered platform 3 as there is no overhead power, also there is a sign that says that emu units are not to enter, I feel like he should I come to a stop sooner. It is unlikely they will add overhead power on that platform as it will be difficult to include as there are multiple exhaust vents that would be in the way of the cables and is just an unnecessary expense.
