Explanation: Re-opening the channel and rebuilding the bridge are the most important things right now, to prevent a massive hit to regional trade (even national trade, given that Baltimore is the nation's no. 1 automobile export port). Obviously it would be ideal if the shipping company which caused the accident can pay for all of it right away, but we don't really know who's at fault yet -- that will still require a full investigation into the culpability of various companies and authorities, as well as potential legal challenges and appeals taking months to complete. Therefore, the intelligent solution -- which is what the administration has proposed -- is for the federal government to cover the immediate costs of clearing the channel and rebuilding the bridge, which will then be paid back over the long term by the company (or companies) at fault.

As I understand it the Dali chartered by Maersk managed by Synergy but is insured by Britannia P&L club up to $10 million with rest on backs of Lloyds of London. No reason to stick it to Taxpayers AGAIN like were back being employees of East India , Danish, Dutch & British/English trading companies.

Who? Pete Buttigieg is a Rhodes Scholar which are typically geniuses, guy speaks 8 languages and can play piano, guitar, harmonica and didgeridoo. Not to mention navy intelligence officer Afghanistan veteran then became a Mayor. Ran for president at 37 is much more qualified as president than Trump

WOW! The port that's now partially blocked is a major employer, supporting more than 15,000 jobs directly and 140,000 jobs indirectly, according to the Maryland state government. Those jobs provide some $3.3 billion in personal income, $2.6 billion in business revenue and $400 million in tax revenue, the state says.
