Excellent explanation of the concept and how it is being implemented. I have no time for the conspiracists with their exaggerations and paranoia, but I do wonder about the relationships between developers and local politicians when vast housing estates are allowed to be built without schools, GP surgeries, shops and other important services. I also believe bus/tram services should be planned and laid on before many people move into new developments.

Really interesting and in depth video. Keep up the good work. 15 minute neighbourhoods? It's going to be difficult to get some people out of their cars as they are so attached to them, and many of the physically able have just got lazy. An ex-girlfriend used to drive 400 yards to the shop for her cigarettes. The one way system made the journey almost twice as long on the way back. Walking is so good for you physically and mentally.

There are plenty of very legitimate reasons to be deeply distrustful of governments, so when some genuinely sensible policies are implemented I understand why some people find it hard to believe that they aren't sinister. I've met people who don't drive who oppose traffic calming and improvements to pedestrian and cycle infrastructure because they see it as a removal of civil liberties (when you remove the liberty to walk safely by building dangerous car-centric infra, apparently that doesn't count). What they don't seem to get is that by opposing good urban planning they are just supporting the 1950s style planning which was implemented by the same nefarious power structures they are so against. In Glasgow in particular, the city council has such a longstanding reputation for being crooked to the core and is loathed so widely that people will oppose anything and everything it does, because it does it. It's almost impossible for Glasgwegians to fathom the idea that there could be good people working for the council getting things done that actuallly benefit the general public. I am still somewhat surprised myself to see so much good stuff being put in. I wonder what's really going on inside the council, I imagine internal battles between the old boys' club of taxi/bus company gangsters/auto lobby and the sensible, well-intentioned urban planner types.

And even Elgin, which used to be my “big town” when I lived up north… I like the 15 minute city concept but maybe be it’s slanted towards those who can afford to live in certain parts of a city. Compare and contrast Shawlands (where I am) with nearby Castlemilk. Still no supermarket up there despite years of promises. So non-car folk have to get an expensive taxi back up from Toryglen… keep up the good work my friend 👍

Europeans think we don't have busses. We have busses! You can ride a bus! We have public transportation! We have legs and bikes! If people wanted busses they would ride them. Lol he said he can't understand why people think they will be locked down then goes on to explain that you will be fined $70 if you leave your zone. If you have to buy your freedom it's not freedom. I love how they think cameras and fines magically build shops. Never before in human history has "convenience" required checkpoints and cameras.
