84” 5500 crew cab with a hauler bed would be a closer comparison, but for sure the M2 106 platform is a step up in long-haul comfort and towing safety. RAM makes pickup truck cab rigs that max out at 19,500 GVWR and not all of their dealerships are even equipped to work on those. Freightliner makes real trucks and has a service network that caters to them.

The Freightliner is awesome but your better off with a Pick Up seeing how you can use it for everyday use. Plus as you get older the Pick Up is easier to get in and out. Great comparison video.

I have a Ram 5500 with an 11 foot flat bed. The 6.7 Cummins blew a hole in the block at 610,000 miles. I’m in the process of sourcing a low mileage 6.7 for it. In the meantime, I’ve spotted a gently used M2 with a Caterpillar engine and an Allison transmission. I’ll give it a try. The first thing I’ll do is install air ride seats. My trucks are configured to haul 275 gallon tote tanks. They weigh 2500 lbs when full. I calculated the M2 can haul 5 tanks. The 5500 can haul 3. My revenue is increased with the M2.

Who would finance an M2-106 for 20 years ? If you dont have the cash, dont buy it. Maybe finance for 5 years.

The difference in the engines is not just about the power and torque but the freightliner will be going coast to coast over and over again while the ram will be in the shop. If you have the money and you are going to be full time RVing then the freight liner is a no brained. Only setback is with the Ram you have way more freedom once you’re at the site to go wherever you want.

The difference in size of the joint and the brake pads is shocking. That’s really all you need to see they’re not even close in comparison.

I thought that the Freightliner we're all four-wheel disc brakes as per all the videos they have been in and I have not seen or heard of One with any drum brakes

With taxes, you’ll spend over $200K for a brand new Freightliner like this . Also, you have to deal with cabin noise do to the size of the engine and the light weight of the cabin when you’re not pulling a trailer. The 2023 ram 3500 chassis cab dialysis HD pulls 37000lbs 8k more the the summit hauler and over 100k less.

People have no idea about chassis, brakes, driveline, final drive etc... They actually think a light duty pickup can tow more than a medium duty truck lmfao. Marketing clearly working.
