The Trapani-Erice cableway connects the city of Trapani with the historical town of Erice nestled on top of Mount Erice at an altitude of approx. 750 m ASL. The town was founded by the Elymians and was known as Eryx in the ancient world. The town was conquered and ruled by Carthaginians, Romans, Arabs and Normans.
Today medieval Erice is a popular tourist destination with wonderful vistas of the surrounding area.
