Hi and welcome to my channel Micks Mowers.
I picked up two mowers for free but they are in bad shape, one is only good for part. The other is non running and needed some spare parts, lets see if I can turn this trash picked mower from scrap to cash.

Hi Mick what I did with these mountfield decks is I mixed some black & silver hammed hammertie paint until all most matches to touch up and keep it in a old paint tin I cleaned up

How do you remove the handle bracket? I’ve just been given one of these and both bolts one side are loose and just spinning. Are they threaded holes or nut on the back?

Ok so they are held in to the plastic part in the back of the mower.. I do have a video somewhere showing how to remove them.. but you will have to cut the head of the bolts off to replace them..

do you think it would be worth considering running them on 20:1 two stroke to leave a film of oil on steel components to stop them rusting etc over winter ?

@@themowerman i meant 80:1 just a smidging of oil. i repair chainsaws and always use the same mix of fuel in my old hayterette 5hp with no probs at all, i just thought a smidging of oil may stop the carb sediment bowel corroding, but i suppose if there's water/condensation accumulating in the bowl over standing years then an oil additive wouldn't last more than 12 months i have thought? you did a fantastic job on that mower by the way. i get vintage chainsaws saws like that and like you i get an enormous sense of satisfaction out of hearing them run again after decades unused/neglect.
