You forgot to mention the Masonic Temple! It is a very eclectic building, remodeled at different times in different styles, but each room, when taken individually, is a masterpiece. The exterior is early Romanesque revival - a mid-19th-century precursor to Richardsonian Romanesque. The facade is quirky and sometimes downright ill-proportioned, but it's still a joy to look at. (I recommend studying the portico and archivolt.) The interiors/Blue Lodge rooms have all been redecorated/remodeled - mostly in the Beaux Arts tradition, but there's also a Moorish room, a Gothic room, a Georgian room, an Egyptian room, and I believe a Romanesque room. Highly recommend visiting.

I live in Old City, Philadelphia where you visited!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️ Ironically we usually just bypass the places you mention because of all the tourists lol, but they really ARE wonderful architectural examples of those styles!!!

Really love your content. It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for for years. You deserve way more attention than you’re getting, but I don’t doubt that it’s coming. Keep up the great work!

Elfreth’s alley is amazing. My wife and I stayed in a B&B there about 15 years ago. We love going to Philly for its history, restaurants and the arts. And best of all, unlike NYC, it doesn’t cost you anything to visit!

The last philly hall always gives me a French influence vibe. Maybe it's just late 18th century. But that's 1 of my fav eras for architecture

I'm sure you know where to go & what to see & partner with local experts from the area when visiting. But.... if you're ever popping in again & have some time I'd be honored to take you guys to see some hole in the wall type stuff. And... Camden & Haddonfield are mins. across the river & have some fantastic historical bldgs. to see also. And mins. from my house is Carmen's Deli that has sandwiches that will blow you away!!! Hoping all is well Brent, Dirty Jersey out!!!

Once again a superb video! It showcases your passion for building. Although would bet that most people won't "sketch" details, they'll probably pull out their smart phones and snap photographs for future reference. All the best!

Hi Brent. Since you've talked a lot about the 100 year window, can you do a video on the 100 year wood floor? You mentioned in a reply to a question I asked about wood floors in another of your videos that "floors are different than trim work or paneling". I'm assuming that's because floors get a lot more wear and tear than trim or panels but with all the fake wood products, engineered woods, nail down, glue down and floating floors (as well as different species of solid woods available), what should a homeowner install today that will hold up for 100 years with regular care and maintenance (and maybe an occasional resanding)?

I've walked through too many houses with 100 year floors. I don't think it is a great hurdle.

And City Hall is the French 2nd Empire building. Nothing in historic Philly is "Philadelphia Hall". ;-)

Oddly, when you look up Philadelphia Hall, not Philadelphia City Hall, you come up with Independence Hall. Not sure what's going on there.
