I'm currently building a 28 foot sxs trailer from a old camper frame. I'm using 2 inch c channel for crossmembers . They run the full width of the deck. Welding them 2 feet on center on top of the 5 inch c channel frame. I cut all the original outrigger off before I started welding anything.

I, like you're idea what you're doing because you're helping me of what I need to do my friend gave me a mobile home which is 14x80 and I've got to disassemble the whole house trailer down to the frame then I've got to cut it back from the rear AXLE and cut the front to bring the hitch back I'm going for a 20ft trailer it's got 3 axles I want to build it for hauling my commerical Backhow

I am actually gathering material to do the exact same thing on my travel trailer but I'm going to use some sort of 3/8 C-channel cut up in 10" to 14" length to add strength to the wall support angles. The shell in dropping do to the manufacturing materials weaking and warping.

I just brought home an 18' tandem axle frame. I hadn't decided how I was going to reinforce the frame before putting the decking on, but you pointed out some excellent examples. Also a new subscriber.

Very helpful, like the other guy said, wasn't sure how to reinforce the frame of the trailer, luckily I have two trailers and one will but cut up for scrap to use as reinforcement material for the other trailer.

With these reinforcements do you think that frame can support 2000 lb cargo or 3500 lb cargo? Assuming that the axel and leaf springs are upgraded also?

Those pc of steel that's sticking out from the outside of you're trailer frame I have those to on this house trailer frame those are the pc that holds the outside walls on what was before

Or just replace it with square tubing. This seems like a lot of extra work for this.

I have a angle iron frame trailer. 7ft x 4.5ft trailer and the angle iron i do believe is 2x3 angle iron x 3/16 inch thick. These are my main beams running lengthwise. Then there is sheeting sides about 16 inch high which does add little strength. the cross members are just 2x2 angle iron probably 3/16 inch thick because i was grinding the rusted out metal floor out. It has a 2000 lb axel. Is it possible to upgrade the axel, and reinforce the frame to hold 3500 lb or 5000lb of soil?

Does reinforcing it make it be able to put more on it ?
