Welcome to the nightmare of socialised healthcare. As Canadian living in Costa Rica, I'm thrilled to finally have the choice between public or private healthcare. I didn't have that privilege in Canada. Thanks for the video.

Exactly what I was going to say. If Costa Rica manages to turn this around, he should come help governments in Canada cure our healthcare system.

Good morning 🌺 Prevention starts with self care and personal responsibility, which, honestly, most are not willing to do. They look to "healthcare" to fix them. Self care is consistency in lifestyle and not a quick fix. I worked in holistic healthcare all of my life. I have seen this over and over again. Another great interview with Johnny. Thank you 🙏

Absolutely, it's important to take care of yourself. However, we also need to set people up for success by providing them with the tools they need. The current system allows for reactive care, but it requires significant effort to navigate effectively. Ultimately, we must help our fellow humans live a good life. Hopefully in the future view healthcare as a natural expression of our human instinct to care for one another.

I arrived with an earache and they didn't want to treat me because I'm tica, I don't have insurance and it's not an emergency; Apparently some foreigners, like refugees, and others, do have benefits; like they protect them by agreements. That's what it seems, I don't know.

Costa Rica needs to brace itself for the wave of Canadians and Americans moving down there that HAVE to see a specialist for EVERYTHING. Ticos need to have “front of the line” privileges ahead of every resident immigrant. My wife is a healthcare professional here in the USA and the abuse of medical care by hypochondriacs is appalling. Get out in front of this.

I will never seek residency because it is my understanding that I would need to pay 10% of my income into CAJA. In my case, private insurance is far cheaper than CAJA due to my income. CAJA needs to implement a maximum payment limit if they want higher income earners to seek residency. CAJA should never cost more than private insurance IMHO.

It’s actually been increased from ‘8-9%’ of your income to ‘18-19%’ …. They made this change about 2 1/2 years ago by requiring us to also enroll in the Costa Rican Social Security system and the Disability system. Remaining as a tourist and using private insurance is absolutely the way to go …. in our case, private healthcare is significantly cheaper than paying 18% of our pension and social security income into CAJA. 👍🏼

I completely understand your viewpoint from a financial standpoint, and it's totally valid. However, it's also an opportunity to give back to those who have less and to appreciate the privilege of being in Costa Rica. We should view CCSS healthcare as a natural expression of our human instinct to care for one another. Have a blessed day

@@JohnnyKnowsCRyou really should move to Canada and see what happens when people receive things for free. This mentality breeds expectations, complete and utter laziness, dependence on the government etc etc This then leads to homelessness, sickness, theft increasing, complete devastation of areas of cities, long waiting lines, etc etc People NEED to contribute regardless of their income status. Giving poor people free things is NOT THE WAY

@@brucesannino6181 It is NOT FREE VA Health Care. It is Free Health Care at any Hospital or Clinic in Panama. Neither the VA or its Health Care exists outside the US. In 1991 the US gave Panama 2 fully equipped Naval Hospitals and this given in exchange. You will need a phone number and mailing address in PANAMA. A Costa Rica address and phone will get rejection. You cannot replace a lost VA Card in Panama. There are no VA Offices.

I haven't watched the whole video yet so not sure if it's mentioned.. but can he advocate to improve it in the context of making it voluntary to pay into it if you're a resident. Or at least reversing those highway robbery rates for rentistas that they've been making bank on the last couple years. Is anybody still fighting for this?
@JohnnyKnowsCR

I'm currently working on a proposal with CCSS to establish competitive rates, as many people prefer paying out-of-pocket privately rather than using it.

@@JohnnyKnowsCR I been saying since I first heard of this (commenting) that these things ought to be generating a cash flow out the gate to show potential investors that it is sustainable and peak interest. Punta Mona was a self sustaining community on the Caribbean side that was doing it but unfortunately being in a protected mangrove zone had to shut down. In any event the farming component should be the tip of the spear wherein people can get boots on ground to be active on the land without structures, phase one could have been tents and hippies like Punta Mona

@@JohnnyKnowsCR there’s two attached properties in Aguas Claras, Alajuela - 46 and 120 acre, easy to look up, this seems like a perfect spot for a Punta Mona 2.0 - what do you think of the area? I like that it’s year round green and cooler with lots of Costa Rica charm, still a reasonable distance to beaches and airport

If Costa Rica wants a healthy population they wouldn’t have let franchises spam places like Nicoya 😅 they have more fast food than you can shake a stick at and the youth are becoming addicted to the same diet as Americans

Is access to healthcare better in Costa Rica than the USA?
@JohnnyKnowsCR
@JohnnyKnowsCR 24 күн бұрын
Article 62 of the Constitution of Costa Rica establishes the rights of citizens regarding healthcare and the social security system, particularly the Caja Costarricense de Seguro Social (CCSS). Here’s a summary of what it provides for all citizens: Right to Healthcare: Article 62 guarantees all Costa Rican citizens the right to healthcare. This includes access to medical services, hospital care, medications, and other necessary healthcare provisions. Universal Coverage: It emphasizes the principle of universal coverage, meaning that all citizens, regardless of their economic situation or ability to pay, have access to healthcare services provided by the CCSS. Equality in Access: The article ensures that healthcare services provided by the CCSS are accessible to all citizens on an equal basis, without discrimination based on race, gender, economic status, or any other factors. Protection of Health: It recognizes the protection of health as a fundamental value and obligation of the state, reinforcing the government’s role in promoting public health and ensuring the well-being of its citizens. Social Security Benefits: Beyond healthcare, Article 62 also extends to the broader social security benefits provided by the CCSS, such as pensions, disability benefits, maternity leave, and other forms of social protection. In essence, Article 62 of the Costa Rican Constitution enshrines healthcare as a fundamental right for all citizens, ensuring that the state, through the CCSS, provides comprehensive healthcare services and social security benefits to promote the health and well-being of the population. We should view healthcare as a natural expression of our human instinct to care for one another
