肉粽枣粽一起来！和我们一家一起过端午吧
I decided that I wanted to celebrate Duanwujie, or the Dragon Boat Festival, with my mom and dad, so I bought some zongzi, or sticky rice dumplings, for them online. This is their very first time eating them so we'll see what they think.
端午节快乐！Happy Dragon Boat Festival to everyone, stay safe and look after each other wherever you are.

You have indeed been enlightened with Confucius wisdom of "Filial Peity". Indeed, you have adorable and loving parents. When my parents were still around, I really loved them and now they were no longer around, their tender loving care fondly cherished in my memory. To me, God is in heaven and present everywhere perpetually, while on earth parents are our temporary life and fond memories as nothing is permanent.

honestly it doesn’t bother me that non-Chinese cant pronounce Chinese it’s like Chinese people cant pronounce other languages perfectly either and as long as it’s understandable we get away with it lol

在河南老家我从小吃的都是父母用糯米，红枣，花生做的粽子，然后蘸白糖吃。煮粽子时锅里还会同时煮上大蒜，鸡蛋。虽然长大后咸粽子我也爱吃，但是大多是平时买着吃，端午节时我还是必须得吃甜粽子，只有红枣花生粽子会让联系到儿时的记忆，让我感受到节日的氛围。

I think there's literally a different kind of zhungzhi for every dialectical group in China, including one each for the different Chinese groups in the diaspora. We eat a savoury sweet one in mine, made with pork, preserved winter melon, crushed peanuts and occasionally, five spice powder.

明明是凄美的爱国主义故事，Stu讲得屈大夫像普通抑郁症患者。寒食/清明，端午都是华人为了缅怀忠臣良相。吃的实际都是祭品。

端午节早在屈原投江之前就存在了好嘛！只不过好死不死屈原正好选择在端午节那天投江自杀……，我恶意揣测一下他可能就是希望趁端午节老百姓都聚集在江边举办庆典这天众目睽睽见证之下殉死( ͡°ᴥ ͡° ʋ)，不然怎么知道他还抱石沉江，并且是为了以死明志而不是因为爱情家庭感情纠纷殉情？估计跳之前还发表了一番遗言吧？

做为一个现代人，我实在不能支持屈原的以死明志的“爱国主义”精神。武官可以通过投身边疆保家卫国来实现爱国主义精神；文官可以通过投身社会各个层次的行政或律政来实现爱国主义。以死明志实在是消极的，但是符合古代酸腐文人的气质。他的死搭了“寒食节”的便车，我个人认为其实是古代的文人在带节奏。

端午本身被认为是毒虫出没不吉利的日子，孟尝君因为端午出生，差点被他老爸弄死（史记），考虑到孟尝君和屈原死的时间差不多，所以端午节的意义应该是后来增加的

Stu's story is great. I know you learned history in Oxford but there is an interesting fact that there had been Dragon Boat Festival before Qu Yuan was born. However, it is Qu Yuan who applied a special meaning to this festival. Lastly, 端午安康

The China Traveller - Fantastic video Stu, both light-hearted and heart-warmingly great for the soul, - your folks are accidental comedians at times, like, for instance when you told them a brief potted-history / A.K.A. Origins Story of 'The Dragon Boat Festival' , neither of them commented on that as such at all, but rather commented on how nice the Zongzi tastes! 🤣 and... the cat screaming like a crying-human-baby, priceless stuff! {Note: the background music would be perfect if you brought the level down about 5%, it's just slightly overlapping vocals at times}
