It's Lantern Festival in China and during Lantern Festival, people will eat something called Tangyuan. So, I bought some for my mom and dad! They've never tried Tangyuan before, and they've also never celebrated Lantern Festival. So, this is a big FIRST TIME!

老爸很可爱，但是请注意年纪大的人汤圆一次不要吃太多，不是因为热量高低的问题，而是糯米食品对年长的人来说不太好消化

The Chinese are happy to see Brits like them learning the chinese culture through food. But most Brits are obviously disturb watching this. But I personally like this effort in showing tolerance and understanding on both sides. Food is a great bridge in coming towards one another.

我是上海人。在春节，上海人通常都会包春卷和吃年糕。炸过之后的春卷像金条，寓意着来年财源滚滚；年糕则是寄语来年生活和事业节节高升、蒸蒸日上。当然还要吃汤圆，希望大家都团团圆圆、完完美美的。

司徒下次可以看看那个中超有没有红豆沙卖，我经常在中超买到袋装的红豆沙，然后可以让爸爸妈妈做面包的时候放一些进去当夹心，这样Bob就能吃到他的 red bean dounut啦

@@harveyliu6036 Fyi, in English food jargon they usually contrast a "sweet" dish with a "savoury" dish. So tangyuan with meat fillings would be described as savoury. Calling it "salty" may inadvertently create a "taste like salt" impression. 中文里”甜“和”咸鲜“味的对比。

我是南方，福建的我们甜的叫汤圆，咸的叫元宵，一种是包的，一种是滚锕滚出来的，还有一种叫做xi“米时”是大米和糯米按一定比例混合，磨成浆，压成半干后搓成的圆形丸子，煮熟，外粘豆粉、糖即可食用。福州人搓“米时”时，桌上置竹箩，箩中放红桔数粒、红筷一双、纸花一对等。搓“米时”也称“搓圆”，寓意团圆；“米时”则象征“时来运转” 也有甜咸两种不同口味，非常推荐
