With good friends visiting from America, I immediately took them away from Copenhagen to show them more of what Denmark has to offer. We spent time in:
Egeskov Slot on Fyn - egeskov.dk/en/
Lego House in Billund - legohouse.com/
Jelling Stones in Jelling - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jelling...
Deer Park in Aarhus - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marseli...
Aros in Aaarhus - www.aros.dk/da/
It was the perfect 3 days to start their vacation in Denmark and allow them to explore Fyn and Jutland.

Most Danish cemeteries look like that. A grave or two surrounded by hedges. Houses in the old suburbs usually have hedges all the way around the ground too. But watching American movies, hedges seem very rare in the suburbs. I have often wondered if there is a law against hedges in the US 🙂.

@@kyradeblaker-gebhard4514 It appears that US units are defined in metric. There is a YT video with some engineer at NIST showing the or one of the US standard kilograms that used to be used as reference masses. Also go and look up e.g. K4, K20, K79, K85, K92, K102, K104 and K105. The issue of sticking to imperial is probably more of a cultural one. Great choices to show what's outside CPH. I know that you already went to Zoo, but Givskud is close to Billund, went to Knuthenborg this summer, unfortunately had to rush it a bit, but I'm sure my 18 months boy now knows how big the figures of his giraffe and T-Rex really are. But as I already said, great choices. Legoland is fun (and in my humble opinion better than Tivoli, sorry), but I think Lego house is a better choice given the age of Anabel. Which leads me to the suggestion to grab one of the Lego hotel packages, you get to stay a couple of nights, and it can include entry to both the house and the land for that time. But of course I can understand that you were a bit squeezed on time, and Vejle is also a very cozy city... But if it was all about the kids, I'd have gone straight to Billund, tho I know it's a bit pricey.
@TravelinYoung
@TravelinYoung 2 жыл бұрын
I know that Kyra and family have been to some large amusements parks in the US a few times, so I felt LegoHouse would be a more unique way to experience Legos while in DK. I also wanted to give them a taste of a few different places and not settle into only Billund. I think a few days in Billund makes total sense for a Dane, but for an outsider with limited time in Denmark, I feel it is a bit much. I hesitate to say this because I am sure I am in the minority, but I strongly prefer both Bakken and Tivoli over Legoland. They both have a charm that appeals to me.
@BenjaminVestergaard
@BenjaminVestergaard 2 жыл бұрын
@@TravelinYoung 😁 I don't think you're in the minority, a lot more visits goes to Tivoli every year. Anyway, you're right, given a tight budget of time, those were some very good choices. And yes, Legoland is just a theme park. As you also find them in Orlando. But I still find it more fun than both Bakken and Tivoli together, not least because you don't have to pay on top of entry for rides. But I agree that those two are perhaps more unique, Lego should never have outsourced Legoland... Now it's everywhere 😆 just like Disney land. All I'm saying is that if it was just for the kids, I'd probably choose to base in Billund, there's a lot going on around there which appeals to kids.
