Russian legislation allows selling medicines only in pharmacies where professionals with diplomas - pharmacists and provisors - are engaged in this, and a provisor's diploma can be obtained only after 6 years of study at the Faculty of Pharmacy of a medical institute or university. And not at all because there are a lot of pharmacies in Russia. On the contrary, there are many pharmacies because only there you can buy medicines.

The selection of fresh fruit and veg is really really good in this shop in Moscow. I never get such choices in central London. Even in Wholefoods which is a really expensive American supermarket I don't see as much choice of fresh produce. And of course prices in London are astronomical for anything fresh. It is incredible that Russia under thousands of sanctions offers their customers better quality produce and lower prices than in London or other western capitals. But on daily basis BBC is telling everyone how Russia is running out of everything. Even news and truth is indeed in short supply in the west, but clearly not in Russia.

You do not compare England and Russia. England is an island state for which sanctions will be disastrous. Russia is a huge country bordering both Europe and Asia. If Europe has imposed sanctions, then Asia has a chance to make super profits by exporting products to Russia. Imposing sanctions on such a large and self-sufficient country as Russia is pointless. Only European producers who have lost cheap energy and sales markets suffer from sanctions.

Some of the prices may look cheap to a person living in another country. But in Russia, to determine how "easy" those prices would make life for the senior citizens actually living in Russia - you would need to know what the average income was for senior citizens living in Russia. And it may not be nearly as much, as where you are from - which might make a lot of those supermarket products quite expensive for the average senior citizen living in Russia.

There are so many things that are the same as the grocery stores here in Ontario, Canada but something that far surpasses our stores is the quantity and variety available. Even the plastic produce bags are the same as we have. Here in Ontario alcohol is not sold in the supermarkets. Some do have small wine stores attached to the store. The flour here is approximately $2.80 for 2kg so it's far cheaper in Russia. Every item you have pointed out is far cheaper than our products. 12 eggs $4.49, 2kg sugar $2.99, Toilet Paper averages around $12.00 for 8 triple rolls. The same size of that Jack Daniels is $39.95. I have actually gone online and looked up all of these prices so I'm not making it up. Absinthe is available here, 750ml $70.95. Before I watched this video I looked up the price of multigrain bread - $4.39 for a loaf, a loaf of plain white bread is average $2.88. It's expensive to live here.

Hello Russell, Us scousers keep the tomato ketchup as simply, tomato sauce. As for the selection, the supermarket featured within your video is extremely well varied and indeed value for money, even your eggs have the old-fashioned white shells that we had back in the 1970s. Thank you, Russell, for yet again for a very comprehensive range. Price examples, One pint of milk £1.20 Branded toilet paper £3.80 Loaf of white sliced bread £1.60 Bottle of scotch whisky £18.00 per litre shops are not permitted to sell Russian vodka, Absinth, as far as I'm aware, is unavailable, unfortunately, as a none drinker, I don't really know. Standard vodka was my girlfriends favourite, but alas not available, it was always, £16.00 per litre. We don't have Caviar, only normal fish in the sense of, Cod, Haddock; Plaice and the likes. I hope this has been useful x

The UK stopped using white shelled eggs because the shells are more fragile and when you're keeping birds in battery cages with roll offs less profit is made. Battery hens are now illegal but the hybrids bred in that time produce brown eggs. Now they won't change back simply because the hybrids will lay 360 eggs per year as opposed to say my Leghorns(who lay white eggs) that lay 295. The hybrids last 18 months, as such a high level of egg production debilitates their health. Then they are slaughtered , largely for pet food, and new birds utilised.

I love how in the final shot of the above video - the guy that we had previously seen walk past you, suddenly jumped into the shot just behind you & waved - to grab a bit of free publicity for himself! That supermarket does have a very good range of most products. Apart from that - I probably would have liked to see you comment on the prices in that particular supermarket & whether they would have been considered "good" prices, compared with other supermarkets in Russia. It's one thing for foreigners to compare Russian supermarket prices with what they themselves would normally pay in their home countries - but in other countries, everything is relative to the wages/salaries/incomes of the people in those same countries. So some commentary on whether the prices of basic food items in that supermarket, would have been affordable for the average Russian family/person, would also have been helpful.

@@TravellingwithRussell Thank you. They come in a variety of flavours. I only buy chocolate. I think being $1.50 in Moscow makes them an expensive buy. They cost in Australia $4.50 and I buy them on special at half price for $2.25. They used to be $4. They are made in Europe.

Very nicely stock store, the price is a lot cheaper than here in Canada, but may be the household income is lower in Russia so at the end it might come to the same. When i was young ( i am now 71 years old) we pay 19 canadian cents for a loaf of sliced bread now it is 4.00$. The boose seem to be cheaper is Russia but here with the taxes they strangle us....i love your videos, and Russian should be proud of their stores, they are as nice as ours....

What i hear the salary of a programmer here is more than 100,000.00 Canadian dollars, a police officer 3 years senority is around 110.000.00$, but the cost of living is according to that. But a lot of people are on part time job or on minimum salary arount 15-16.00$ an hour...and the income taxes here in the province of quebec canada is the highest in north america....so salary doesn't mean a lot if the cost of living is very high.... @@29Aios

Although Rumyantsevo Business Park is out in the sticks a bit, it's not quite as remote as indicated in the video (10km from any homes). It has a metro station only 200 metres away and is located only 2km (not much more than 1 mile) from Yugo Zapadnaya - a huge residential area in the south-west of Moscow - so well over 1 million people live pretty close to this place!

And they still try to tell People that Russian Economy is going down, the Rubel is almost dead, the People in Russia have it far worse to live than People in the US and EU (that they have barely any Money and whatnot) but seeing those Videos really shows the Reality.. we had almost similiar Prices years ago here in Germany in Supermarkets like Lidl, Aldi etc but even there everything got so expensive.. a 10x pack of Eggs, even the cheap one, cost nowadays at least 1,19 Euro (at one Point a few Years ago it was at 0,79Euro or so for the cheap 10x Pack of Eggs) Then there is stuff like Sunflower Oil where the cost exploded, from 1,19 Euro in 2019 for a cheap 1L bottle up to 4Euro for a 1L bottle (still the cheapest one). You cant really buy much nowadays and best wait for a Discount week and buy certain Stuff in Bulk.
