Join Aslan & I at the waterpoint in Banbury and having filled the tank, we drop down through the lock and tie up at the service point there.
Later, having completed a further list of essential tasks, I move on a short distance where I once again moor up for the week.
During my stay at the southern end of Banbury, I receive carefully worded career advice from a 'viewer', on KZfaq . . .

There are so many people with youtube channels these days that it seems like any Tom, Dick or Harry with a video camera is intent on making it big via those videos and attracting subscribers. It can be most difficult to stand out among the crowd. But Kevin has found the formula. And I think a big part of that winning recipe is the fact that he reads all of the comments we viewers post after each of his weekly offerings. It gives you a feeling of belonging. You have actually talked to the Country House Gent! He might not have replied, but he read your words. This personal connection makes every minute on Aslan feel like you are part of "the crew" so to speak. And so we live vicariously through Kevin as we travel the canals and worry if we will find a suitable mooring around the next bend.

Thanks again for sharing your adventures and your thoughts with me (even the senior moment 🤣). It’s all very much appreciated. Cheers. In the first four minutes, at around 2:20, I loved seeing the adult and a couple of young kids all standing, waiting on the little bridge just to watch Aslan glide on by and listen to the thump of the motor. But then the next pair at around 3:53 were awesome. The kid exclaiming loudly - WOW!! 🤩 and then you give a short blast of your boats horn as you disappeared under the bridge. Then, with a small giggle from you, it just made the whole thing perfect. I’m hoping that seeing Aslan becomes a core memory for those kids, and that sparks something wonderful and creative inside them. Brilliant, just brilliant. 🙂🐿🌈❤️ P.s I couldn’t see the second kid after they shouted “wow!!”, but I’m imagining that kid jumping up and down like a spring with the excitement of it all. So funny

My wife and I have enjoyed watching your videos since the first series! Thank you for producing! The thought has occurred to me while watching the scenery looking forward as you cruise down the canal that if you were to use a wide angle lens the experience would be more "immersive". Using 16:9 aspect ratio looks fine, and is what we are used to, but recently I have discovered via various projects of mine that when viewing scenery, a wider aspect ratio really makes you feel like you there by seeing and experiencing things more like the human eye sees them. By "wide angle" I mean a lens with a field of view of about 100 degrees. Of course your posted videos would have a different aspect ratio. This kind of video would just be for watching the scenery go by. Anything else would be a "normal" lens. Experiment with it and see if you don't think widening the view gives a more immersive experience. Summary: 16:9 is kind of like viewing the world through a toilet paper tube. 100 degrees is more like viewing the world with your eyes. Just an idea! Keep up the good work! :o)

Hello Kevin hope you are well. When I last travelled on the South Oxford in September 1984, it was a beautifully tranquil, some what neglected canal, a bit short of water in places and many of the lock keepers cottages were empty. There was no pub at Grants Lock, it was just a very run down squatters dump, littered with rubbish. The M40 was a planners dream, and I have to confess I was one of many who was very appreciative of it when having to travel back and forth from our home in Shropshire to families in Kent in the nineties, but how it has destroyed that once lovely, quiet and tranquil canal. One of so few that did not had a railway line adjacent to it, though in my opinion the noise of a passing train is far better than the almost constant 'white noise' of vehicular traffic passing continuously at speed! Stay safe and enjoy you cruising, you idle s--t!!!

I saw that message and was myself offended even though it wasn't directed at me. I think you did the right thing! My family includes several psychologists, from whom I have learnt that such people have a problem only with themselves. On a lighter note, the railway viaduct you filmed just south of Kings Sutton belonged to the "Banbury and Cheltenham Direct Railway". The Cheltenham to Chipping Norton stretch was closed in 1962, the Chipping Norton to Banbury stretch underneath which you (would have) passed closed already in 1951, so not the fault of the wicked Mr. Beeching.

Well, are you absolutely sure that brilliant commenter wasn’t “Idol” worshiping brother? 😂 I’m with you, sometimes they’re so absurd you can’t help but laugh. Keep on keeping on brother. Like most , I’m still 🎣 hooked! Great job! 👍🏻

Kevin, I saw that obscene comment and wondered just how miserable a person would have to be to think it was appropriate or helpful to post such a thing. 🤨 Good to see you and Aslan and the beautiful countryside. All the best from Sandra in Arizona. 😊

So Kevin, I’ve been subscribed for a while and (I think) not left a comment yet. But that response to the comment was wonderful and I sprayed a glass of wine with laugher when it came up on screen. That said you are now an idol, it’s in writing! Take care, and thanks for that laugh! Col!
