@MrMossMan7272
@MrMossMan7272 2 жыл бұрын
It’s come up a lot recently with stories that wanna have science behind what they are doing. If someone is invisible, it’s generally thought that they are refracting light to appear that way however because our eyes work by light hitting the back of your eyes, if you refract it all away you will literally be blind. It’s a similar conundrum for intangibility. If you pass through everything light cannot hit the back of your eyes and you will be blinded with only a sensation of falling. They did a really good example of this in my hero academia with a character who is able to become intangible to pass through walls. If he activates his power across his entire body he feels as though he is falling in a black void. And because all of his senses are turned off, because of the intangibility, he has no way of knowing if he is appearing in the right place. So he has to angle himself and do all sorts of guess work to get where he wants to go.

I love Brennan, and this interpretation from.him on how to spot someone invisible is amazing. I very well may steal it for my own games. I typically would have said "you hear someone exhale just a fraction of a second before yourself. And as you register that someone else is in the room, you can feel something distorting the regular air current. And in that moment you can pinpoint that there is a medium sized humanoid in this room with you, but.more than that you have them pinpointed to within a 5x5 area.

I love how casually Brennan seems to come up with "concealed attack" mechanics on the fly and they immediately work and fit into the mechanics of the game. Becuase it's the start of combat and the attack is unexpected, a non-action hide roll is called for, hitting whatever DC Brennan thought up on the spot, giving that attack advantage and allowing for sneak attack damage to be made in addition.

I had a conversation with a friend about Invisibility and how its working and yes, we talked about the fact you would be blind if you were invisible. Yet I think that is not entirely true, at least not with Invisibility spell. As you know, Invisibility is an illusion based spell. If it was true invisibility, that would fall under transmutation. Invisibility spell just makes you appear invisible to others and takes care of things like dust, snow etc falling on you as well as your shadow, but in reality you are still there and visible. Of course no one can make an intelligence check to discern its an illusion, because there is literally nothing to see and discern. But yes, that's my two drops into the ocean. Anyway, Brennan applying logic in such a horrifying, detailed reveal was amazing and I loved it.

Hey Critical Moments. I like watching compilations and scenes of highlights of stuff like this for Crit Role. I usually go back and watch them multiple times, but I gotta say, think about spoilers when you are putting titles and title cards and thumbnails together for this stuff. This aired Thursday night, and not all of us have the option of staying up late on a Thursday to watch the new episodes and some of us have to wait until it releases on Monday so we have the time to watch it. If you put spoilers in your thumbnails and titles a lot of us are going to use the "block this channel" or "ignore this channel" because it pops up in our recommended feed and you just spoiled Critical Role for people. I still haven't seen the episode but two of your videos have popped up on my feed and I'm about to block your channel because I don't want to know about jump scares before they happen or about "betrayals." Even if it isn't a major story element, it is still a spoiler for the experience of the episode. This has been happening with a lot of Critical Role Highlight channels lately. (First one that comes to mind is LAUDNA BETRAYS IMOGEN video that came up after the episode that ended with Delilah breaking Imogen's crystal). I get it, the show is awesome, and we want to share these amazing moments, and in all probability I would have been coming to your channel to watch some of them eventually, but please, please, and please think about spoilers for people who can't watch the episodes as soon as they air live. The episodes air Publicly the Monday after they go live.

did Travis use one die and the app to roll the rest for dmg ? or.. was that scripted that he was supposed to cause X amount of damage ? seemed strange to me, can anyone clarify for me ?
@alexneumann4904
@alexneumann4904 2 жыл бұрын
Think he rolled for damage on the app because 7d6 is a lot to find. Also as we know, travis is bad at reverse math, and adding up 7d6 is a lot. But when everyone wanted him to role real dice instead he decided to go for that. Also probably because that's the first time (at least in my memory) that anyone on cr has rolled digital dice instead of real dice, and the rest wanted to hear the sweet sweet sound of a bunch of dice hitting the box instead of nothing

@@thefracturedbutwhole5475 I am pretty sure the axes he uses, the "hawks" are specially designed handaxes that are also finesse weapons. Just having that as a flavourful way to build out your character is totally fine. But I agree something is not quite right with the way he's coming to that result. According to Cerrets Wiki entry he has 10 STR and 20 DEX. If that was a Finesse weapon he'd have +10 to that role. Otherwise it would be +5. In any case, I loved this episode to bits and literally rewatched it 2 times already.

Of course, it's a game, and magic exists. So you can always say, no everything is invisible, it just works. But what Brennan is describing is how it would have to work if we added some real world logic to it. The way vision works, you gather in light that hits the retina at the back of you eye. If you are completely permeable to light, ala being invisible, you ** should** also be blind, because light passes right through your retina. Again, no reason to care about that, magic does magic stuff. But this is a pretty amazing explanation of a phenomenon that wouldn't take away from invisibility, and you can sure tell by Travis's face is a great feeling as a thing for an experienced investigator to notice.
