Traxxas Summit Rear Diff Repair with Hot Racing Cup

Here is the process I used to repair my Traxxas Summit rear differential, including installing the hot racing diff cup.

thankyou for making this video i am using it as my instructional video i broke my diff yesterday i run on 6s so have orderd HR cup and casings and some ceramic bearings for the input shaft

It's nice that HR gives lifetime warranty for the alloy cup because that thing will never break again

That is what I put in there. You can choose which oil you want based on how you want the diff to work. Thicker oil gives a more locked feel. Thinner gives a more open feel.

This was a very old Hobbywing setup. They don't make it anymore. I believe staying brushed is probably better in the long run with how weak the diffs are.

Sure are. The case and internals are the same.

@@RoadsideRC tnx man. so just to be sure, if i have a brand new diff in a new case i can just replace it to the rear or front and it will work the same right?

@@suryjoni Yes sir. The diff cup, and gears are all the same part number front and rear. The case/housing is also the same.

Those are RC4WD Mud Slingers on 3.8" plastic beadlocks.

How's that Hot Racing diff cup been holding up?

It is doing good! No issues for the whole time I owned the truck. I honestly believe it helps the diff gears live longer.

@@moistavocado2350 From a driveline, yes. This truck had a brushless setup in it, so did have more power than stock.

Better put the stock tires back on, unless you like fixing differentials.

Did you get rid of your Summit?? I've been following you for about a year now. I just got a summit myself last week and fell on this video in a search. I had no idea you even had one lol

I did get rid of it! I kept expecting after the release of the ERevo2.0 that Traxxas would quickly follow with a Summit2.0...except that they never did...

@@patricklavoie8719 You have that right! I really enjoyed the Summit. It is not the best basher, or the best crawler - but it is the best at being a Summit! I keep telling myself I will break down and make an ERevo2.0 into my own Summit2.0.
