3 жыл бұрынHey guys! In this video I make a first attempt at 100mph with the Traxxas X-01. Traxxas claims that this is the worlds fastest production "out of the box" ready to run 100mph plus RC car. I run it stock and unlocked with the 34 tooth speed gear pinion to see if the average person can achieve the claimed speed of 100mph.

Hey guys...it was a humble start to getting this X-01 up to 100mph...lol.😂 I expected as much, but 79Mph is not bad considering the tires that came with it were garbage with warped rims causing extreme unbalance in the drive line. One of my runs may have been slightly faster in the 80's but the GPS flew off on the run before. Overall the damage turned out to be a compressed camber turnbuckle so a nice easy fix. She now has a set of Arrma Hoons fitted so we will give that a try on an upcoming video.

@@motortoys9942 Thanks brother! I have some Hoons on her already. I have a set of GRP's too but I like Hoons better...never had one come unglued yet. Well I'm going to do a few small tweaks and the new tires and see what happens. You were right about my Slash though. With the 4274 motor she rips! I have a few vids coming in the next few days. I'm itching to get back out there again for more passes. I also want to rip my stock infraction and I have a Felony now too...NEED MORE TIME....lol. 😵😂

@@KaizerTest I've blown out Hoons and grps just depends and gotta watch temps wear etc etc. Hoons are my 8th mile strip tires and usually use foams or GRPs for all out speed. regardless it will be a whole different car with those hoons on there the stock xo1 tires SUCK! They wobble and all types of stuff worst tires imo. And nice on the slash bro hell ya telling u dude 😂

The only 'Speed Run' rc car that goes bananas(everywhere BUT straight) with gyro RX or 230EU Demon GYRO! Thats why a friend bought it blue......so it fits with the closest OCEAN(Unfortunately that became reallity after 5-6 weeks) Great vid AND Nice day! !

I found it helpful, when I turned down the Steering Sensitivity (Expo) & I found the front suspension is to soft, easy fix. Now, It’s so much easier to Drive. 👍🏻

Its a nightmare to drive....lol. Tires are junk. I got Hoons on her now. It had crazy toe in from the factory. I set the tires to a little toe out but it still didnt feel planted.

Yes you are definitely right!😂...lol. I have done over 100mph on this road(its really smooth with no manhole covers but it's a little short..(as you will see in some upcoming vids...hahaha.) I wanted to see what this car is like completely stock out of the box, and I wanted to test their claim of 100mph out of the box. So far it isn't looking good.

I was on the fence with the xo1 and decided to get the limitless instead and the number 1 reason was handling the speed. Going fast is but part of the race. The limitless runs like a bullet train on rails. Go take a like at the latest video I posted.. Traxxas is my number 1... but this limitless has me looking at all my options.

There's no comparison between the limitless and the X-01. The X-01 was awesome 10 years ago but a lot has changed since then . You made a great choice.

@@KaizerTest I love it. Yeah my kids are just old enough to get in to RC cars. So I bought an Xmaxx 8S. I’ve let them both drive it, and they do ok considering they are 8 and 9 years old. I was a little disappointed in the stability of the Traxxas X01, that car looks super sketchy on the street. I’m comparing it against the Arrma Felony. Not sure which would be better to have.

@@videocardzrule354 There's no comparison. The Arrma Felony is a much better car. Just look around my channel and you will see I got my Infraction to 114mph, my Felony to 114Mph and 119 with a crash and my Slash 4x4 to 132mph, so it's not like I don't know about how to go over 100mph. The X-01 was a great car 5-10 years ago. But now you can buy an Arrma Infraction that will do a STABLE 95Mph out of the box with the speed pinion. It's just way more better at speed than the X-01. I did everything to try and set the X-01 up. I changed the tires(which were horrendous, unbalanced junk) to Arrma Hoons. I adjusted the camber and front toe. I tried distributing the battery weight differently. Nothing worked and the best I got was 80mph without wiping out. If you want a road car get the Arrma for sure. And I am no fan boy for any brand. I love my Slash and I have a Rustler and a Slash 4x4 for dirt and I just bought a Maxx. I just like what's good and I would take a Arrma Felony, Limitless or Infraction over an X-01 any day. And for just parking lot bashing they are better too. Way more planted, easy to drift and I forgot to mention batteries. The X-01 has puny battery trays.

To be completely honest the Arrma Infraction or Felony setup right out of the box can easily do 90mph with the speed pinion and good batteries. I have a Slash 4x4 that I modded and is a GT car and has done 138mph. My Felony did 119mph with the stock body(different motor and gearing). The X-01 is good but Traxxas really needs to update that platform. Check my other videos from awhile back to see more Arrma speedrun and Slash 4x4 speedrun stuff. Thanks for watching brother.🍺🍺

You might try upgrade your radio. I found a futaba 4pls on eBay . You can tune steering brake esc etc, using digital screen. It's worth it trust me....Also try arrma hoons worked good on my xo-1. Good luck good first test take your time don't push to hard it can go bad quick lol🇺🇸😎

Thanks brother. She has Hoons on her already as we speak...lol. The first run was more of a scientific experiment to see how full of **** Traxxas is in their 100Mph out of the box claim. The tires on a WL Toys car are probably more true than these were...hahaha.😂 They will be melted into oblivion on another car.

@@furiouswolf777voodoo4 I usesteering exponential on my DX5C to make the center part of the steering throw to be less sensitive but if you turn the wheel further it responds normally. Can you reduce the rate on the TQI radio? I havent had a chance to look at it.

@@KaizerTest The TQI has no dual rate control at all I would recommend gettiin a transmitter with the dual rate controller like the flysky GT3B and set it to a negative 25 or 30 so it slows down the touchiness even more at those speeds the slightest touch of the steeriin with a street with a slight bank on each side it WILL drift and/or pull hard to that side..... I can give ya a holler one of these nights help you iron out some of the bugs if you need it..... Cheers

@@KaizerTest I'm using futaba 4pls, savox servo. Steering was to fast so I slowed it down. Then I limited steering left right to 75% I'm sharing what I did to help you better control your car. I have a limitless, Typhon, 6s Slash and xo-1. XO-1 is hard to drive. If wheels aren't true or balanced it's really hard to drive. Ordered hoons and that made a big difference. Watching your car run reminded me what I went threw...You sort it out just wanted to help you Good luck and all the best!!!

Glad you didn't have to much damage. Hope it stays straight next time and gives you 100mph. The short range of the TQ radio seems to give a bit of grief. Kevin Talbot uses a 1900 ft radio for his runs he said. Might be something you might need to get the speed with in the range you got.

For sure. I wanted to try it box stock first. One more try with a few tweaks..hopefully I don't kill it...lol. Then I will put it on my Spektrum DX5C radio. So far Traxxas has been pulling the wool over everyones eyes with the X-01 I feel. The tires were horrendous. New tires, rear diff fluid thicker, a little toe out and I will see if I can lower the steering rate a little. After that I will have to get serious...lol.

@@fordnut71 Yeah before I ran it I bench tested them and they balloon quite a bit for a supposed 100mph tire. I never had an issue with Hoons and I also tested them.. Much less ballooning. To be honest I don't know why I bought this car. I have a Slash 4x4 that runs straight, and I have an Infraction and a limitless. I also have a Tamiya TT02 that ran 97Mph. I like doing it the hard way I guess...hahaha 😂

Half milion oil diff F/R , aluminium steering, AVC spektrum from (arrma infraction) much better then TSM my opinion! Red gtr speings with black belt, servo must be changed!!!! Traxxas servo its totally garbage! After that xo-1 drive like dreams! I got limitless with max 6 combo 4985sl great running car but xo-1 always makes me smile on my face! I loved this car ! I have 2 in my life. Sold bought:) but will be buying again!!🍻🥃🍻

Dude your steering toe is all fucked up after taking the 2nd hard hit to the curb. You didn't see that when you took the body off you can see that one of the front tires is at a slight angle facing in and the other tire is straight? Then you put the body back on and assume its going to drive ok. Also i don't understand why X0-1 owners put a garmin gps strap or tape it in the car thats not attended for the car when Traxxas do sell a gps module and mount that bolts on top the chassis brace and works perfectly on the Iphone.

I did see the messed up steering after(not during the run vid) and it wasn't the toe it was a camber link. I fixed it later. And the stupid Traxxas "GPS" Live link never worked properly it's just a sensor on the motor mount that senses a magnet in the spur gear cush drive. I had it all set up properly on my Live link app with proper spur size etc. It never read the accurate speed. These Sky RC and Dynamite GPS units are real GPS running off satellite's and are dead accurate. I'm not new to doing this...my Slash has done 122Mph and will be doing 130 plus this weekend and I know how to set up a car. This car had crappy wobbly unbalanced set of tires out of the box, Puny battery trays, flimsy body and would not run straight over 77Mph. I don't have a lot of time to do my speed runs so I didn't want to waste anymore time on this car. So the chassis is getting sold and the gearboxes, shock towers, motor mount and other stuff is now on my new Slash 4x4 speed build.

@@KaizerTest i thought the traxxas GPS units run of the satellite signals not of the sensor from the motor mount? I ran this on my X0-1 never had an issue with it also have it set up on my Xmaxx with no problem.

@@1998gst4611 It uses a speed sensor on the motor mount and senses revolutions on the spur. They dont call it gps anywhere in their marketing and its not.

You could trim down the turning radius to avoid those sudden turns in high speeds

One more try with the stock radio and better tires. After that I will put it on a different car. I'm pretty sure I lost range pretty close on this run. My Spektrum DX5C is stock and I haven't lost range on a speed run yet. But this car was quite twitchy and the back end would just slide out at higher speed. Very hard to hold straight. I will give it a few tweaks and give her another try.

@@KaizerTest give me time I have two small kids that keep me busy and hardly anywhere to open it up honestly it's setup to do 100 easy when u unlock it and tune it I had it doing 63 just cruising so idk it's hard for u lol trim that steering and tune it some it is ease to control I mean nobody turns the wheel at 70+ anyway so lol as long as it's steering just right 70+ is easy stay tuned I'll get that for u

That’s the problem with the Xo-1 it gets unstable in high speeds hopefully traxxas is working on a new version of this car nice run though enjoy.

I tried Hoons on it and a better radio and cutting the back of the body out. Also added a bit of toe out. Still won't run straight. It's really pissing me off. I crashed at 71Mph...she's broke now.

KaizerTest RC also if you want something stable try the Arrma infraction v2 that’s what I run it’s stable and avc good too and it almost hits 95 mph with the high speed pinion. Well good luck with the Xo-1

@@ilovejesus973 The X-01 is getting it's motor ripped out for my Slash 4x4. The esc will go into my Infraction V1 with the Hobbywing motor(eventually) and the X-01 will get my 3670 Kv cheap surpass motor and a Blx185 esc until I can get it to run straight if ever...lol. I ran my Infraction V1 (brand new never run) today with 27/40 gearing and did 90Mph. Not too bad for a first run. And it's straight as an arrow! Love it. How do you set up your toe and camber on your Infraction?

Congrats on getting the X-01. As for the 34 tooth pinion it depends on what you want to do with the car. If you want to do speed runs then yes fir the 34T pinion and high speed front splitter. Ihope yours is set up better than mine out of the box. The tires shook like crazy from being warped and out of balance and the radio has poor long distance range. I found this out a few days ago when I took apart a Traxxas radio and discovered the antenna is built in to the circuit board and is short. I ended up tearing my Traxxas radio out(with the telemetry) and putting a RadioLink RC4GS which has 600M range. I was losing signal on my X-01 and if you want to do over 100Mph this isn't good....lol. Next I fitted some Arrma Hoons tires on it...much better and balanced and I have gone 121 on them so far without issue. I also added some toe out to the front tires and cut out the rear of the body to let air escape and prevent the car from getting light and parachuting. The body will also need to have drywall tape and shoe goo applied to stiffen it up because its flimsy and can lose it's integrality at speed with a lot wind force buffeting down on it.

@@paulcooper7162 No problem. Maybe your tires are more balanced. Hoons are the best tire up to 130Mph. I like them better than GRp's and BSR foam tires for speed runs.

Definitely...it feels very light at speed. I need heavier batteries in there as well. Plus Im going to put thicker diff oil in the rear.

' i rather better use a normal 540 / 550 motor size with NIMH as nickel metal hydride battery (NiMH or Ni-MH) on the car... dont need a brushless motor and lipo battery

Exactly! And it came with a massive amount of toe in. I actually cheated a bit and added some toe out and it still wouldn't drive straight....lol. Im going to fix this thing...its going 100mph one way or another..hahaha🚀 EDIT: It's a F'n PITA and it's gone...lol.🤦♂️🙄😐

@@TX010 I took it apart and made a Slash 4x4 with the parts. I sold the rest on Ebay. I just really hated that car..hahaha.

@@KaizerTest When I buy I was so happy!!! Few hours later 🤬😡🤬😡😡🤬 I changed some many parts with steering!!! And nothing help! Ok up to 50mph after that horrible handling!

@@TX010 A guy left a commet on my other video and said to use a GPM aluminum steering bracket. He must have meant bellcrank. The servo saver and steering linkage. I never tried it but who knows maybe that was the problem.

Every x01 video I've watched turns out this way. Completely handles like crap and definitely is a waist of money. Traxxas needs to discontinue this one and start over.
