TRCC TECH TIP - How to fix your brushless RC if its going faster in reverse than it is forward

In this video i explain how to "reverse" your speed control, this is typically the problem if your symptoms are, running faster in reverse than in forward, or, running in reverse only, no forward.
EDIT: Just got a comment from another user which reminded me of another symptom this can fix. If you've got the ESC backwards the brake will be messed up too:
ESC backwards will:
Forward-Reverse (no brake)
Reverse-Brake-Forward
ESC Forward will:
Forward-Brake-Reverse
Reverse-Forward (no brake)
This is the first of a new segment i decided to throw together, it's what i refer to as, a "TECH TIP" just a quick little help video for a common issue that was brought to me from another youtube member... if you have any tech questions that i may be able to make a video of, please shoot me a PM.
However, please check out my other vids to see what vehicles i have, it's difficult to make a video for a vehicle or technology i don't have... also keep in mind, my expertise is pretty much limited to electric offroad trucks.. to asking me about nitros or air stuff... probably wont get you much of a response because i simply do not know anything about them.

I just recently converted my HPI e-Firestorm 10ht to brushless, and had the reverse going faster than forward. You just solved my problem, and I think you're video showed up first when I looked this up. Thank you.

This worked on my redcat racing blackout xte pro. Just purchased it and had the same exact issue, reversed two of the three wires to the brushless motor, that solved it and is now working properly! Thank you!!! :-)

Man I've heard of switching the motor leads around, but i didn't know if ppl meant on the motor can or at the connector ends. Got a losi mino rock crawler for my son, upgraded to a hobbywing 1080 esc and it was faster in reverse than forward. Tried to program it, reverse the throttle, switching motor leads worked, then I still had reverse steering but I just flipped the steering reverse switch and called it a day. I get full throttle, and forward is forward...thank you brotha!!!

Thank You! I just got a castle sidewinder 3 and it ran backward. Reversed the controller but then it was slow forward, fast reverse. Switched wires and set the controller back to normal for the fix. The instruction manual from Castle didnt even mention this as a possible issue.

Thanks dude, I could be able to solve this issue, actually I imagine this solution and I change the wires (inverce the polarity) or at least I supposed I did, how ever, the second time worked great. Now goes faster in forward.

Thanks a bunch I just finished running my talion an notice it wasn't perform ing like it normally would. I just put a new hobbywing esc in an notice it wasn't pulling up in the front. But pulling up in reverse I did everything from use the program card to rest control s.didnt work didn't think about I put abc from motor on wrong . Saw your video. My car had to much power in reverse. Switch everything around. Rest my esc with program card. Did a test with it in my hand holding it the thing flew out my hand an landed on the ground got my power back thks again.

I have one problem While im reversing and then stop doing that it braking on its own. But when im going foward its running fine and when i want to i can brake but while reversing is doing that on its own. Please help :D

yeah like when I go in reverse the esc shows a green light. Then to go forwards I have to get over the braking safety to go forward and the esc shows a red light when moving forwards.

dosent that screw with the brake because ive tried that only works sometimes because the brake gets reversed wen u switch the controller so when u go forward and hit the brakes it snappes straight into reverse

if that's this years, then yes, i cant remember which number it was, but my "backslashed" slash 4x4 buggy was "king of the ring" looped the fullpipe 2 times consecutively.

if you've got the ESC backwards the brake will be messed up too, it'll go reverse, brake forward, but instant forward to reverse... so this fix will repair that to, so you'll have forward brake reverse, and reverse to throttle with no brake.. ESC backwards will do: Forward>Reverse (no brake) Reverse>Brake>Forward ESC the correct way will do: Forward>Brake>Reverse Reverse>Forward (no brake) Kinda tough to explain, and of course this is all dependant on the ESC type and programming.

Mine is doing this reverse is fast then when i trigger forward it brakes the goes slow forward BUT i cannot switch the wires in my brushless motor

the ESC might have a programming option to reverse the motor, do that and then reverse the channel on the radio and that should fix it.

All the videos i find are with the traxxas transmitter i cant find one with the spektrum lol but i reversed b n c but i didnt have luck...i got the speed tranferred to the front but it was still reversed on the control unfortunately

with a spektrum you can see it's reversed, make sure it's the correct way on the TX and then flip wires on the motor until it runs the correct way based on the TX, the reason this happens on traxxas is because poeple set it backward unintentionally and then it's set to like 20% power on reverse so people dont shred gears.

you just need to swap the motor wires and use the TX manual to reverse the throttle channel, all TX's will be different so you need to do a little research on your particular model.

you can do it by also swapping a couple of wires on the sensor wire, however with sensored i really dont think this is your problem, there's likely some other solution for your problem.

what does he mean by censored and uncensored. I have a brush less ere voodoo vxl and have the same problem but I don't want to mess it up even more, can someone plz let me know?

you'll know sensored because it will have an additional plug with a set of tiny wires, bu chances are if you don't know the difference, its probably sensorless. Sensored is usually only used in on-road or competitive race cars/trucks.

Yea, i had to swap my motor and esc wires. Switch and reconnect any 2 wires until its working correctly

carlos miles doesn't matter if they are sensored as long as you're running it in non sensored mode.
