L’artiste canadienne Janet Cardiff taille le son comme une orfèvre. Pour « The Forty-Part Motet » (2001), elle a travaillé avec le chœur de la cathédrale de Salisbury. Le motet "Spem in alium" interprété par le chœur est une œuvre à quarante voix indépendantes composé par Thomas Tallis vers 1570. Installée dans la dernière galerie, elle clôt majestueusement l'exposition.
Canadian artist Janet Cardiff sculpts the sound like a goldsmith. Her piece “The Forty-Part Motet” (2001), that she realised in collaboration with the choir of Salisbury, pays tribute to the Renaissance composer Thomas Tallis. In the room, forty voices rise each from a different speaker creating a poetic three-dimensional sound space. The perfect way to end your visit of the exhibition “Being Modern. MoMA in Paris.”
