The Horizon 7.8AT is consistently one of Horizon’s best selling treadmills and for good reason: it has all the essentials at a great price!
The 7.8AT deck pivots to a 15% incline and it will go up to 12mph. The running surface is 20” by 60” long -- and it folds up when you are done! The Horizon 7.8AT features 3 Zone variable cushioning which is adjustable via a knob on the side of the track.
Some of our favorite features include:
350lbs max user weight
This is an impressive weight capacity for a folding treadmill which makes it a great option for nearly all users.
15% Incline
Get more out of your HIIT intervals with incline added to speed sessions for a higher calorie burn and more intense conditioning
12 mph Max Speed
The 4.0 HP motor is 33% faster than comparable motors so you can jump quickly from one speed to another with no lag in between. There are abundant speed training options with a 12mph max.
Feather Light Folding
The Feather Light folding system makes it easy to fold your treadmill deck vertically when you are finished to reduce dedicated floor space in your home. The deck locks into place when folded for safety and security.
3-Zone Variable Response cushioning
The 7.8AT provides a cushioned mid-strike zone with a solid toe off for the ultimate running treadmill. Control and improve your running form with the variable response cushioning.
Sprint 8 HIIT program integrated
The Sprint 8 HIIT programs are very popular and shown to be effective (and time efficient!) for weight loss. The Sprint 8 program comes preloaded on the 7.8AT and the responsive motor supports the quick speed intervals in this program. You can also subscribe and use your tablet to access more Sprint 8 workouts.
33% faster response motor
The 4.0HP motor is designed to not only be powerful but also extremely responsive so you can move between speeds quicker than on comparable treadmills. Go ahead and push that button -- you’ll notice the jump to your desired speed is almost instantaneous!
Bluetooth enabled to sync with 3rd party apps
Don’t get locked into one particular app. Horizon has designed the 7.8AT to sync with any number of external 3rd party apps so you can train and use the platform of your choice that will sync with the Bluetooth console.
Roller Speed and Incline Controls
An unusual but intuitive design, the QuickDial controls make it simple to jump from one speed (or incline) to another. Using just your thumb, you can roll the control dial quickly and easily. The speed dial is on the right handle and incline is on the left.
16 Digit Alphanumeric LED 9.3” and High Contrast Color TFT screen
While not the most technologically advanced console, the added tablet holder and Bluetooth function makes it so you can also use your personal tablet for added training options.

Just ordered this machine thanks for the review. Diabetes + being over weight Dr say lose the weight or get more problems. Heart is still in great shape for over weight person, Walking does not help as much as I want so the Dr says try the HIIT training, but start a very low level, and work my way up. My last stress test dropped my insulin from 6 units per 15 carbs down to 4 units per 15 carbs. Learned about HIIT training from you thanks.

I purchased the 7.8 AT direct from Horizon after doing quite a bit of research, including watching reviews like this video, and have owned it almost 2 weeks. My only complaints: 1. It should not be this difficult to pair a smartphone to a Bluetooth enabled device in 2021. I still don't have the pin needed. 2. 3 days in, I needed to add some oil to eliminate squeaky noises heard at low speeds. Aside from that, the machine is worth every penny, and I plan on running 30 miles per week on it for years to come.

Does it make wonky noises when starting up? Like it's warning you it's about to take off or something? My new 7.4AT is doing that. I got to this video in my search to find out if it's normal. Bummer you're having problems with bluetooth...mine paired quickly the one time I've used it so far.

Hey, first I want to say that I really appreciate what you guys do on this channel! after a few videos I could not not subscribe and will definitely be recommending this channel! Also I was wondering what the best option would be if I only care about comfort, speed, training options and a decent incline range at the best price possible. Also, I want to keep the treadmill for a long time, so something solid. I dont care about size (I dont mind if its very large), aesthetics, display features, a quiet treadmill, bluetooth options and all those fancy ''extra'' things (although they are nice). From what Ive seen, the sole F80 and F85, the NT 1750 and 2450 and the 7.8 AT are popular options. Could you help me narrowing it down to one model, or perhaps one brand? Thank you very much :D

Hey Momo! Thanks so much! Your list looks good. For durability, we recommend the F85. For HIIT training we recommend the 7.8AT. And for those who like video content and a cushioned deck, the 2450 is the best option. Hope this helps!

I'm a runner and one important item is cushioning. Which of the treadmill will have the better cushioning the Nordic Track Commercial 2950 or Horizon 7.8? Is there a lot of wobble in the deck or console when running and will it sync with the Apple Fitness +. Also, you have great content reviews!!
@TreadmillReviewGuru
@TreadmillReviewGuru 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Harry! Good questions. Regarding cushioning, we'd recommend the NT 2950. It has substantially more cushioning than the 7.8AT. We didn't find deck or console wobble to be an issue on either machine. Unfortunately, neither one syncs directly with Apple Health -- this may be a software update in the future but presently it is not integrated by Horizon or iFit (NordicTrack's fitness software)

Thank you for this thorough review! Is there a huge difference between a 3.5 CHP motor and a 4.0 CHP motor? We are deciding between this model and the Horizon 7.4 AT model (3.5 CHP) and we prefer the console on the 7.4 AT because those center buttons by the Start and Stop are speed and incline increase and decrease rather than media pause, play, and stop as they are on the 7.8, but obviously are curious about the 0.5 CHP difference. My husband runs fairly fast and can run for several miles, so just wondering if that difference would that much more beneficial and also if it being a home treadmill, if it makes any difference at all given plugging it in to our home outlet? Any insight would be appreciated!
@TreadmillReviewGuru
@TreadmillReviewGuru 2 жыл бұрын
Great questions. The area you'll notice the biggest difference in the motor in long-term use. The 4.0 motor should last longer and give you more life than the 3.5 if you're using the machine a lot. It shouldn't wear down as fast. How many miles a week do you think you'll be putting on it? Wall outlets are typically fine but we recommend getting a surge protector just to be safe. You should be able to get one at any local or big box hardware store. Please let us know what other questions you have.

@@TreadmillReviewGuru Thank you so much for the quick and helpful response! As a couple, my husband and I would probably average 25 miles per week on a treadmill and my husband runs generally at a speed of 9 mph and would be the one putting in the 20 miles (I walk/run the remaining 5 miles). Would that extra half CHP matter in this case? We tested out the 7.4 AT (the store did not have the 7.8 on the floor unfortunately) and my husband felt that those dials were very sensitive to try and precisely increase speed incrementally, so he preferred the buttons. Thank you for taking the time to answered my detailed questions! Very much appreciate it!

How well does this integrate with the iFit app? Are the treadmills that have iFit built in give you a better experience since the trainer can adjust the speed and incline? My initial thought was the Horizon would be great because you can use most apps but I also want a fun experience and am between the 7.8 and Nordictrack x22i. Any feedback on quality, service etc between the two companies?
@TreadmillReviewGuru
@TreadmillReviewGuru 3 жыл бұрын
You can use the iFit app on the Horizon, but you don't get the automation feature. If you want automation, you have to opt for a treadmill that has iFit integrated into the console like on a Nordictrack or ProForm machine. I personally love the x22i - it's my favorite treadmill. We hear a lot of comments about the console going out on the x22i but I haven't had a problem with mine. They updated the console in 2021 so I'm hoping some of that is resolved.

Hi, what is the assembly like with this treadmill? We are receiving ours soon, and wondering is we should assemble it ourselves or not.
@TreadmillReviewGuru
@TreadmillReviewGuru 3 жыл бұрын
Assembly takes two people, but it isn't overly difficult. It took us about two hours to put the 7.8AT together. We recommend assembling it yourselves if possible - we find technicians are often rushed and not as careful. If you have a friend or someone who is good at assembly, they could be helpful. But most people aren't as careful as the owner.

Really confused between this and NT 1750, love the NT but lot of people have had motor breakdowns in less than a month without any help from their customer support. So then might have to sacrifice on the interface side and go with Horizon 7.8. Peleton is an option too but really dont like their smaller belt area and no cushioning at all. What are your thoughts about the motor breakdowns on NT and if you have got any people complaining or experiencing such problems with NT?
@TreadmillReviewGuru
@TreadmillReviewGuru 3 жыл бұрын
We hear of complaints about Nordictrack customer service but much of that is due to a backlog of part delays due to Covid. The Horizon 7.8AT is a good alternative if you want to avoid NT. You could use the iFit app on your tablet or even the Peloton app if desired. It's nice that the Horizon machines will support 3rd party apps so you have other options.

Suggestion: add a current meter to the review so we can see what size circuit we will need - 15A, 20A, dedicated, etc. This machine is rated at "4HP" which is impossible on a standard household 120V/20A circuit even if the motor in this was perfect (frictionless and 100% efficient).

Thanks for an awesome review! I saw this treadmill on a list compiled by Runner's World. I am debating between the Horizon 7.8 AT and the NordicTrack 1750. I love the dials of the Horizon, but I wonder is the cushioning comparable to the NordicTrack 1750? Any advise you could give would be great. I also like how uncomplicated this treadmill looks and the programming app flexibility. I average about 25-35 miles per week, I prefer outdoor running, but I am looking for an alternative on cold weather days. Would you recommend the NordicTrack 1750 or the Horizon 7.8 AT? Thanks in advance.

@TreadmillReviewGuru 3 жыл бұрын
Stephanie, based on your running we'd recommend the 1750. While we love the 7.8AT, the 1750 has just a bit more cushioning and is better for longer distances. The console on the 1750 is also much easier to use. The 7.8AT is great for those who love HIIT style running with the dials and Sprint 8 program. You can't go wrong with either one.

I had a few great runs on the tread then found out that I had been running on a transverse distal fibula ankle fracture. 🥴🥴 I think I love my treadmill lol, and I definitely loved the price point and the lifetime motor warranty. I think the deck is perfect, not too narrow and not too short. @TreadmillReviewGuru
@TreadmillReviewGuru 4 ай бұрын
I recommend Horizon and NordicTrack Treadmills because of the forgiving cushioning and responsive motors. If you want a simple console without a touch screen or subscription training content then the Horizon 7.0, 7.4, and 7.8 AT Treadmills are great options. The 7.8 and 7.4 AT handle heavy use (10+ miles per day), but the 7.0 is a good budget pick for moderate use. If you want subscription training content then NordicTrack Treadmills, such as the 1750 and 1250 are ones to consider. The 1750 is better for heavier use and the 1250 is good for moderate use.

@TreadmillReviewGuru

As far as the quality they're both really comparable and durable. They are both some of the quietest treadmills we've tested, too. The biggest difference in construction is the 1750 has softer cushioning but the Horizon 7.8AT adjusts the speed faster making it perfect for interval training.

I just got the 7.4 AT yesterday and you're just using the app. I could only see users on the LB, but it doesn't give you any stats. It's pretty misleading advertising if you ask me. Still much cheaper than the Peloton Tread and it folds up. That's why I got Horizon instead.

I am looking to buy this treadmill but it is back ordered in most stores and at their website. I was wondering if you could recommend another brand that can work with heavier individual weights (200-350lbs). We have tried to order the Sole 80 and they are also back ordered for close to 2 months. Thank you for your help :-).
@TreadmillReviewGuru
@TreadmillReviewGuru 3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately most treadmills are backordered right now. Since a treadmill is such an expensive purchase and one that hopefully you will use for a while, we recommend ordering the model you really want (even if you have to wait a month or two) rather than just get what's in stock. Both Horizon and Sole build quality treadmills, so you'll be good with either one. Another option is the LifeSpan 5500i treadmill. It is compact and folds up, but has a large motor and will support up to 350 pounds. You can watch our review here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/b5dzdrqet8zGaJs.html

Thanks for your question! Both of these models are good for that size of user and level of use. You really can't go wrong with either model. The Horizon is really great for interval training, the motor adjusts the speed and incline quickly, and it has a little bit softer cushioning than the Sole F80. The Sole F80 has a higher weight capacity, is very solid, and feels a little firmer underfoot on the deck. The F80 is easier to move than the Horizon when both are folded up. Hope this helps with your decision and let us know if you have any more questions!

Looking at the Horizon 7.8AT, Sole F80, NT 1750 and (maybe) NTx22i. We currently have a Peloton subscription which would lead me to the Horizon but wanted to ask your thoughts on the NT treadmills without iFit. I do not necessarily want to force myself into a mandated subscription.

The NT treadmills are still very functional even if you don't use iFit. I frequently just turn on manual mode and run. I find the NT machines have the easiest interface and best cushioning. However, the Horizon is good if you want preprogrammed HIIT options, and the Sole machines are impressively sturdy and have a lifetime warranty. For functionality and comfort though, we default to the NT treadmills. You can easily use the NT treadmills without iFit.

I need some input! I think I narrowed it down to this TRX 5500 and then the horizon 7.8 AT I have been watching lots of videos and visited a few stores. I saw the Horizon in person but I have not seen the TRX in person. I would like to use it mainly for HIIT or LISS. I like both a lot. I am more towards the TRX 5500 because of the touchscreen as my family would probably be more willing to use it if they can watch stuff but I like Horizon Sprint 8 for HIIT. But then they have manual for changing and TRX will change with the pre programmed workouts. The warranties seem close. This is my first treadmill purchase. If anyone at Treadmill Guru has any advice or anyone who has one of these I’d appreciate any feedback thank you!!!!!!

Both are good treadmills, however, for HIIT the Horizon 7.8 AT is best because of the Sprint 8 program and the motor adjusts quickly. The Horizon also has a device rack to place your phone/tablet to watch stuff so that might appeal to your family.

Both are really solid comparable treadmills it just depends on what you want to use them for. The Horizon 7.8 AT adjusts the speed and incline really quickly and is made for interval training with its onboard workouts. It also has a softer cushioning underfoot than the Sole F85. The F85 is a really hearty treadmill with more content options in the console. It has preloaded apps like Netflix to stream from in addition to onboard workout programs.
