This is the Super Nintendo version. Originally composed by Yoko Shimomura. The King of Dragons is a side-scrolling hack and slash video game developed by Capcom, released for the arcades in 1991. It allows players to choose from five characters in order to travel through the kingdom of Malus and defeat the monsters that have taken over, as well as their leader, the red dragon Gildiss. The game was eventually ported to the SNES in 1994.

Epic as hell, I close my eyes and remember those glorious 90’s, feeling like in a medieval adventure with castles knights dragons princesses and elves, the magic of dreaming and getting involved in a story and this music making that ambience

The late 80s and early 90s is an epic era of gaming. Games were so original and fun. The sounds, the artwork and the atmosphere of either a 90s neon lit mall or the local pizza parlor just made this era amazing.

Ah... early/mid 90's. I remember playing this at like age 8 and loving it with my friends. It captures an excellent sense of high fantasy art style. Capcom has a lot of great works.

Steam has this game, among others in the Steam Game: "Capcom Beat'em Up Bundle". Whether or not the game does King of Dragons justice, I don't know though, as of the time of this Comment.

They should remake this game! With nowadays graphics, a town screen where you can purchase better items with the gold you gained, a list of some abilities and spells you can upgrade your character, and the option to select your next stage in a large map

No need. The game just needs to be accessible. This is one that is exactly as it should be. Of the time, music is fire and it plays as it should.

Capcom sorta did this right after King of Dragons with DnD: Tower of Doom and Shadow over Mystara with the shops and each stage forking into one of two routes to choose, it doesn't look modern ofc but the sprite work definitely holds up and has gotten ports (Chronicles of Mystara).

C'mon guys, have you not heard of Dragon's Crown by Vanillaware? It was made by many of the same team that did The King of Dragons and D&D: Tower of Doom. I put over 200 hours into that game just playing as the Elf.

Also, sorry for the double comment, but this song reminds me of Forest Fortress from UN Squadron, which is another all-time favorite of mine. Any one reading this, check out the OST for that game as well, I am sure you will find something to enjoy about it!
