I am 40 years old. I have been suffering from tinnitus for approximately 13 years as a result of a sound shock as a result of hearing a gunshot close to my head. The noise I am currently hearing is so intense that my head almost explodes. I go to sleep every day and I am full of hope that I will wake up as I was before the incident.

@@Russeren01 First:. No one is being " negative". What you're interpreting as "negative" is actually just being REALISTIC. Great explanation at the beginning. The information on whether or not and how long it might take for this to develop was good also but the initial explanation was great. Also, I now realize I've been saying tinnitus wrong! I think the reason hearing aids seem to help with tinnitus is simply because they amplify other sounds so that the tinnitus sounds are not the only noise coming through.

I have no personal experience but I have understood that hearing aids can sometimes actually lessen the tinnitus and not only mask it. This would make sense if tinnitus is caused by not enough nerve information moving from cochlea to the brain (because of damaged hair cells). Tinnitus is the brains response to those frequencies and nerve information disappearing and the brain tries to make up for the lost activity by creating tinnitus where the hearing loss is happening. Hearing aids will boost those frequencies back up so the brain can get a sensation that all is functioning normally again and it will stop creating tinnitus.

@@rejuvenator8966I wish the brain would stop creating the tinnitus as you say but it doesn’t. It just gets a little masked due to being able to hear more sounds thanks to hearing aids.

I had my own stem cells injected into my knee for osteoarthritis. I can say that the knee is less painful, recovery is much faster (overnight) and chronic swelling is vastly reduced. Is it 100%? No. But I can now do things I couldn’t do before, like walking up/down stairs, without pain. I’ll probably never see this in my lifetime, but based on my experience, I can only hope it comes to fruition.

In September of 2007, I had sudden hearing loss while at work one day. I had a strange noise in my ear that sounded like tree frogs. That went on for about 40 minutes. I went to my doctor that day to find out what was going on. He wasn't sure what was going on. Later that night, I had experienced a balance issue. So, I went to ER to see if I could get help with the hearing loss and lack of balance. I was prescribed Meclizine. After about three weeks, my balance had finally returned. The hearing did not come back. Also, I've had a steady hiss ever since the hearing loss. Eventually, I went to see and ear, nose, & throat specialist. He had my hearing tested by an audiologist. I was told I had about an 80% hearing loss. Also, an MRI was done sometime after that. I was told about three possible causes for what happened. A benign tumor, mini stroke, or virus. After the MRI, it was determined it was a virus. For days leading up to the hearing loss, I had experienced on occasion what sounded like shots of air in that ear. At first I thought it was fatigue. Not sure why. Any thought about what may have happened? Thank you.

I just live with it. But stem cells are curing so many things, I am going to look into it. You can get the intense stem cells that people have better eye sight, don’t know about hearing but look into it! Best wishes to you and find a chiropractor, they have success with tinnitus!! Could be retracing your brain from the shot gun ! If they did not find anything strict, then it’s your brain telling you that there is still a problem! Hope this helps?

I stumbled upon a method of using a vibrator to quiet the tinnitus. The science behind it is to transmit the vibrations along the cartilage from the external ear to the auditory nerve inside the brain. IT ONLY TAKES A FEW MINUTES. PLEASE CHECK IT OUT. I used a small electric shaver and placed the non-cutting end to the part of the ear near the entrance of the ear canal. You will probably need to move around that area a bit until you find the spot that gives most benefits. The vibrating sound can be quite loud so don’t apply it too long. After each try, assess the effectiveness. Initially, I tried 2-3 spots for 1-2 minutes, they were not effective until I raised the duration to 3 minutes. Please report back on your experience.

Sounds like might have a jaw or a neck alignment problem. Because of the pulsatile nature of your tinnitus the jaw is a likely culprit. Your jaw muscles are so powerful they can easily pinch nerves and blood vessels. If you have ever been diagnosed with bruxism, or if your pulsatile tinnitus seems to coincide with toothache when waking up, your cure would be very easy. Bruxism is caused by magnesium deficiency. 150 mg of magnesium glycinate in the morning + 150 mg at noon will do the trick. Expect results after approx. 8 weeks. Good luck, and let me know the result please.

If i want a diagnosis of the exact cause of my hearing loss, what type of doctor do i see? My ENT in insistent that i get hearing aids, but that does not fix the problem. I had a co worker who experienced severe hearing loss over several years. She saw a specialist who diagnosed it as something that could be rectified surgically. After the surgeries, her hearing returned.

Being someone who has to deal with Tinnitus, hearing that there is a cure sometime in maybe ten years doesn't exactly make me feel better right now. and the one ear doctor I went to around three years ago gave me zero information about anything I can do for it. she gave me an ear test where she put headphones on me and played tones. and that was it. now three years later I saw a couple of videos before this one where they actually told me some things I hadn't heard before. and I am going to look into the information further.

@@bobhope3716 Stefan Heller from stanford university:) I'm actually considering pursuing my scientific career in the field of hearing research. He told me that specific mutations causing hearing loss will probably be the first ones available, then perhaps synaptic regeneration. The path to hair cell regeneration is still long but progress has been made for sure, but for example the scientists of the hearing restoration project have identified one of the barriers to hair cell regeneration. I would also strongly suggest checking out Zheng Yi Chen's and Angelika Doetzlhofers' work from Harvard and Johns Hopkins! And by the way, I know that you must feel frustrated that there hasn't been the progress that you might have expected, but it's because of the lack of funding. The field of hearing research doesn't get the recognition and getting new scientists is hard. But really, I don't want you to lose hope:) We're closer than we were yesterday
