Imagine waking up and not being able to hear out of one ear. Most people mistake sudden hearing loss for a head cold, but how quickly you seek treatment for it may be the difference between saving or losing your hearing

I had this happen back in August. Woke up 90% deaf in my left ear, and super loud ringing. Wasn't properly treated and now is permanent. I was able to adjust for the ringing by the new year but had a loud event that started me all over. Question is, I also feel pressure/ pain inside my head and I am curious if it is safe to fly??

I had this happen and didn't get into the ent for three weeks. Urgent care and family doctor told me I was over reacting. I now have major hearing loss in my right ear along with maddening tinnitus. Five years now. FML

Good advice not to to wait as this happened to me. But try getting an appointment which you can’t get for 4 weeks

Last week I woke up with a hearing loss (right side) of -60dB. It scared me like hell. No ear wax. I have a history of middle ear infection. My otolaryngologist suspects neuritis vestibularis (nerve infection), for which he prescribes Medrol (prednisolone), a cortisone. Six days later on there is no improvement, this Medrol has no effect. I suspect there is something else going on. I think it could be a disruption of the ossicular chain. The sound simply does not make it to the inner ear. Very loud sounds I can hear but they are heavily distorted, like rattling and rumbling. I also experience tinnitus, this is a constant background noise along with short funny "plinking" sounds like from a tone generator at different frequencies. Unfortunately, I have to wait for 6 weeks to get a MRI scan that may bring some answers. I hope my hearing can be restored, as it is driving me crazy and it makes me depressed.

The MRI scan was negative for acoustic neuroma (vestibular schwannoma). This means no tumor. That is a big relief, but the hearing loss is permanent. Even after two cortisone infiltrations through the ear drum there is no measurable improvement. The tinnitus has calmed down, I still have a constant soft noise. I have to get used to that, since it probably will never go away. The cause of the hearing loss is unknown, probably a virus infection and there is no further threatment.

Same thing I’m going through.. it’s getting better but the static sound and random ringing is driving me nuts

I saw 3 doctors, they all said wait for hearing test. Which was 2 weeks away. Not one of them said "here take theses steroids"

I am 19 year old student, i use a lot of time headphone and earphone. Once when i wake up i felt like my one ear has lose hearing, i feeling like disgusting and i know i was a ear patient too from children. So i didn't went hospital Later another day i start to hear from both ear and i was happy though after 2 hours again i got my hearing loss on left ear. I told my mom about the problem .She took me hospital and i got to know my ear vessel was blocked and if i didn't care on time i could have lose permanent hearing loss .😔

I am experiencing it now. I don't know if it's a sign of hearing loss since i'm still young 15, i'm always using headphones 24/7 (left ear) i am experiencing that there's blocking in my ear, even if it's clean and my ear canal is so big because of always using headphones. Please give me some advices 😭 I badly want to tell it to my parents and go to a doctor but since it's pandemic i don't want to be a burden. And i don't know if it's a sign of hearing loss, i don't want to overreact and be dramatic... But really i can feel it but i have problem in my ear. 😭 I have also a history in my left ear. When i was young some bead got stuck inside, and and i get rushed rushed in the hospital and after a minute the doctor said it came out, but to me i'm not sure because i didn't see the bead came out. But of course i'm sure is not here in my ears lol yes it came out but i'm sure there's a problem in my ear, like my eardrum has a problem....

@@bobo-yp6yn I hope you have gone to the doctor, If not please go. You should take care of your hearing seriously. If you have hearing loss, then it should be treated asap.

I had slow hearing loss for 4 years , I did not notice but family members did. Then came tinnus , which I thought was the sound of silence. Now every time I get a cold my ears fill and I hear 3 different noises. Steroids helped but wore. I am going to try the injection , not for hearing but to help with the 2 added noise. We,l.p. see

It's been a little over a week and my right ear sounds a little distorted/muffled. I saw a specialist and he told me I was diagnosed with temp hearing loss. There was no wax build up nor infection and the hearing test came out well. Doc said theres nothing he can do and to wait a month to determine if it worsens or doesnt leave. Anyone else have this and if do did it leave? I'm currently worried especially bc now my other ear is starting to ache and this happened out of the blue. Not sure if my cpap has anything to do it.

10 days before I used my earphones with full volume in very noisy areas the next day morning, I found tinnitus and hearing loss in both ears please help me. I am only 20 age

Same. And yes my ears hurt when I have a bass song on … I’m looking in to hyperbaric oxygen therapy. This is supposed to help?

@@Skinbodycarestyle it did help me. I had 10 - 2 hour sessions. So the answer to your question is - me. I had sudden hearing loss with tinnitus and was getting fitted for a hearing aid, so gave this a try and I have 90% of my hearing back.

@@Skinbodycarestyle also if you have a look on KZfaq there are a few success story’s. It worked for me. I suppose it won’t work for everyone but after all it is your hearing so I just gave it a shot.

My ENT has me swallow until I taste it while he's injecting the steroid. Then he says to stop swallowing and lie on my side for 30 minutes and to not swallow again. Is this a correct method? Thank you!
