Today, I want to talk about my patients called Lee. So, Kula had a really large lower jaw, which put her teeth into an underbite situation. When we look at the photos we can see just how obvious that is. So her lower jaw was set a lot far more forward. It's larger as well, which is part of the problem. And that because of that, the lower teeth can’t actually fit within the upper teeth. And so they have to sit on the outside. And that's what we call an underbite. When we look at a facial profile, we can see the lower jaw sits a lot further forward compared to the rest of her face. When we look inside her mouth the underbite part becomes very apparent. So here we can see that relationship, which I was talking about. And this is not a good situation because it can cause a lot of damage to your teeth. Apart from the cosmetic connotations as well. So what we did with Kula Lee was we put her into metal braces and basically we aligned her teeth relative to each jaw individually and then she had jaw surgery to position her jaws in the correct relationship. These pictures here were taken shortly after the surgery. We've left the braces on because of the complexity of the treatment. She needs to have them on for about six months to finish and retain the teeth. But the end result is pretty much the same. So here, we can see some of those side on views. And you can see just how severe that underbite was and how we put her now into a normal overbite relationship and the teeth fit together a lot better. So here we can see the before and after of what that's done with her face. So before we had a jaw that was a lot more prominent. And now it's been set back and her teeth are in the right relationship. And this is where things become really apparent in the after photo, we can see a lower jaw that's now in the correct alignment and relationship with the rest of her face. And I think she looks a lot better off this way.
