Beautiful! I love herons. Used to live close to a yearly nesting area and could watch them every evening. They are tops on my list of favorite birds!

That was awesome to watch! Right in front of the camera too...It's interesting to see what they do when they "go home" after fishing and flying around. Thank you!

WOW!! I always enjoy watching birds--but this video is absolutely amazing! How lucky to be out in the woods and get to take part in such a filming!

Watching this reminds me of how few degrees away from their ancient cousins the pterodactyls these guys must be... Pretty awesome

Love Blue Herons, we recently rescued one ... (you can see it by clicking on the Blue Marlin to the left) he was entangled in a fishing line

I just finished a woodcarving of a hero, sure could have used this video to help me carve it, but I think I will try again using this video to help me carve it. Thank you for giving us a peek into their lives.

Herons just amaze me; I once got up close (in urban Toronto, of all places - in a park) and it was one of the most breathtaking moments I've experienced.

There is 1 Great Blue Heron who showed up in the small pond (reservoir) & waterfalls of the golf course I live on in the desert (Palm Desert, Ca). He flies to & fro the waterfalls to large high eucalyptus tree, circles around the fairway and to the waterfalls. They are amazing to watch in flight. I just love the feathers below neck and the crown is awesome, not to mention the long dangling legs following behind in flight.

In some languages, if you're tall, you're nicknamed a Heron. Hence why I identify with them . Birds nurture, fly and have no anxiety.

This is quite interesting.. in the books that I have they list only the male having the black long feather on it's head .. both of these birds have that crest.

It's a camera set up in a tree, remotely controlled. Other than that, I'm not sure. There is a behind-the-scenes video that shows them setting it up.
