Happy end of 2021 with a new walking stick build, carving a "TreeBeard" wood spirit into a nice piece of Ash wood. The grain really made this woodcarving come alive... stick around until the end to see all the great colors and patterns pop when the Tung and Teak oil is applied. Hope you enjoy the process and let me know if you want to see more wood spirits or patterned walking sticks for the new year.

It’s just beautiful. Very nice work but, at least to me, I just can’t picture myself carrying that big, heavy walking stick in my every other day 2-3 mile hiking exercise.

Great job, you should tape a furnace filter to a box fan and put it in front of you. It’ll, suck most of that dust into it.

Good point, for now I do all my Dremel work in the garage and it keeps most of the mess out of my shop. But I have seen a few of those fan filter arrangements and they work well. Thanks!

Ive been excited for yours next video. It looks really awesome, I like the way the epoxy turned out, the depth is nice. I bet you could carve Groot from Gardian of the Galaxy. You should put the description the type of carving tips you were using 😉 on your Dremel. Happy New Year!!

Thank you so much for watching. Good point on the Dremel bits. Yes I treated myself to some new Kutzall Coarse bits... they worked well on the hard Ash. And I have been thinking about Grout... something to think about!!! Happy New Year to you as well.

I really enjoyed this. Do you think the epoxy filled voids compromise the structural strength to any serious degree? I'm thinking drilling a couple small holes inside the void and inserting a piece of reinforcing wire lengthwise would counter that. May be over the top but then again ...
@JasonHedrich
@JasonHedrich 8 ай бұрын
Thank you! In fact, I believe filling the voids with epoxy adds to the structural integrity of the sticks. It bonds to all the surfaces and holds those parts together. I have found it stiffens up the members at the zones where the epoxy has been filled in. Much like river epoxy table slabs are held together by the epoxy pours, the sticks are the same way.
