FAQ: we trekked MARCH 20-31, 2023.
Hiking Everest Base Camp with my husband and in-laws was both incredible & challenging. The trek was a bit tougher than I imagined, but not impossible. I wanted to share a realistic portrayal, so even though I have a few cringe moments in this video, I wanted to be sure to communicate my honest experience hiking EBC. We experienced freezing temperatures, slush and snow, as well as witnessed the most beautiful sunrise of our lives. Altitude sickness is also not a joke, so trek safely, slowly, and be sure to get travel insurance!
We came home full of memories from our time in Nepal. Our trekking guide Karan and our porters, Harka & Rajan, all local to Nepal, made our experience & we cannot imagine a better trip without them. We are forever grateful for them to share their beautiful country with us and be such positive lights in this world.
Nepal is full of breathtaking mountain ranges, and I would perhaps recommend taking the paths less traveled. Everest Base Camp is a bucket list trek for sure, but there are many other options in Nepal too, so I encourage you to hire a local trekking company & check those out as well.
If you made it this far- this video took my channel to the monetization stage & I just want to say how grateful I am. Unfortunately there was a song that needed to be switched out, so you may have noticed a very weird music transition. Regardless, thanks for being with me on this KZfaq learning journey. I appreciate the support.

I am 65 years old Nepali retirement lady. Loved trekking. I have been to Poon hill, Mardi, ABC, Langtang. THIS November From 12 I flew to Lukla, met my guide n poter. AT Denbouch git High Alltitude n almost give up. Staying two nights there on19 I reached Everest Base Camp. Proud myself. This trek was most challanging , tough crazy amazing.... Finally I made it. That was a really good video that you made of your EBC Trek. I did that trek in late March early April of 2000. Yes, a long time ago now. A lot has changed since then. First, it was a dirt landing strip at Lukla. Still an awesome flight. Second, guides were not required as I heard they are now. We travelled in a group of four. One difference that we did was because we were independent we stayed two days in Namche and also two days in Pheriche on the way up. I think that this helped a lot in the acclimatation process. We also stayed the night in Dugla or Thukla and then went to Lobuche. The next day we went up Kala Pattar and back to Lobuche. The next day we went to EBC and returned to Lobuche. On the way down we stopped in Dingboche and the next day walked all the way to Namche. We did not have the snow and rain like you had at all except for one day going from around Tengboche down to Namche. Oh, and that day from Namche to Tengboche was hard. I wasn't expecting that. Other great treks are Annapurna Base Camp and the Annapurna circuit. Lantang is really nice too. I did those back in the 90's.

Thank U 🙏. Nicely presented and shooted vlog. When you are on those heights, over 5.000 m, its wise to listen yr body. As the parents did. One day acclimatization is not often enough. You have very American, positive attitude. Here in this kind of environment it truly helps. It seemed a very well organised trekking tour. 👍 Nepalian ppl have learned well, how to do business as well. Thats great so. For outdoor ppl definitely a bucket list type of trip. How ecological it is, is totally an other issue.

My wife and I spent time in Nepal working with Global Village, Habitat for Humanity. It was an amazing experience! At the end, we went to Pokhara and did a trek. No two steps are the same, and going down was just about as hard as going up! The views of Annapurna and the Himalaya’s were breathtaking! We had much better weather than you, it was November. Thanks for sharing your amazing journey! Paul and Nancy. (Worked with Laura at PSA/USAirways)

Thanks a lot for sharing this. It was moving for me to see these places again. I did this hike 45 years ago, and things have changed a lot. Namche Bazar was only a very small village at the time, with only very basic facilities and then we had to camp all the way to Everest Base Camp with our own tent, because there was no accomodation at that time. And food was quite scarce too. Another big difference is that we begun our hike only 50 km away from Katmandhu, where the road stopped, so we had to hike about 35 days to reach Everest Base Camp. It was quite an adventure at the time and we were not bothered by the crowds.

I love your record, so bright and positive, even in the cold and rain. I’ve been on the trek for it’s own sake, and then went back twice to climb Everest, so stayed at EBC for many weeks over both expeditions. As you now know, altitude living is tough. Kudos to the in-laws….I’m their age now, and thinking of trekking back one more time to see “my” mountain again, but I have had recent health issues to complicate matters. Your film makes me keener than ever to overcome my concerns and give it a go again. Thank you, and good luck to you both in your futures! 👍👏❤️

You guys are an awesome couple. Really enjoyed your video. I am used to the mountains and snow, and climbing with my bike, but certainly nothing like that ! You have the spirit... rock-on and Namaste.

Your positive attitude and beautiful scenery made this a very enjoyable video. It is unusual to see someone making this trek early in the year and unfortunate that your parents were not able to go all the way. Hope mom recovered easily. Wish your vlog had been longer - maybe your next one will be. Thanks for sharing.
