I tried Notion a few months ago, but I found that the work involved in setting up my own system with pages, databases, boards etc was too much. I felt like I was procrastinating by creating tasks for myself involving setting up a productivity system, when really good alternatives (like Trello) that are simple to use already exist. So I deleted Notion and just got to work. But I still get tempted to try it again sometimes, it looks so fancy and cool.

Notion took (and still) almost 3 months of my full time life to set it up right, and I am still working on it for maybe additional month or two, the problem is that I made a lot of mistakes in setting things up. However, once something is set right, a gap in your life is closed once and for all, it is just as simple as that. I believe it is worth it despite the hardship.

Phenomenal and comprehensive video. I use both for different things...more content based and large amount of information in Notion and more project-based action items and to do lists in Trello. The customizations in both are off the charts and both premium project management tools when used the right way. Solid Review my man.

Thanks for that Scott. Agreed with the points - however when it comes to pricing, Trello is not restricted to a $10/month per user option for a team. I have a small team of 6 users and with Trello Gold (only paid by me), I pay $45 a year (that's 3.75 a month). This means that although it may not be packaged as a "Personal Pro" for individual users, it can be done very easily while still collaborating with other unpaid/free team members. I might call this a tie myself. ;) Thanks very much for the video. Great to compare and keep up with alternative options. I'm a happy Trello user and it's MS Teams integration is very good for my work.

At the moment, I'm torn between the two. After using Trello pretty religiously for the past 18 months or so, I've been using Notion to manage tasks recently. Still not totally sold on Notion. I have moved a lot of my Evernote data into Notion, however. It's much better for linking ideas than Evernote is. As you said, Notion can be a little too complicated unless you have a lot of time to play with it. Tough call! I'll continue to test.

Notion. Brilliantly versatile. Research and work tool, you can build a second brain in Notion. Trello is simple, Notion allows you to build tools for a variety of tasks and integrate data across them. And its export is brilliant as well. However I suspect you have to be fairly technical to get the most out of Notion, at least understanding how relational databases work is really going to help you. It's not a turnkey app, but if you make the effort it can become your main workflow.

These are exactly my thoughts. I'm frequently tempted by Notion, but I always come to the conclusion, that using several specialized tools just makes more sense. It's affirmative, that others have the same thoughts about this. Trying to create one tool for everything might be the wrong approach...

I recently left Trello. I am an individual user and Trello is focusing their growth in team applications. In talking with tech support on a performance issue, it was conveyed to me that single users, even with the Gold subscription, were not the future within their business model. Too bad. Now they get zero dollars from me and I had been a subscriber for several years.

Remember that you can link any Trello board to your personal/business calendar so cards can appear their to.
@gamer-and-son
@gamer-and-son 3 жыл бұрын
Trello began changing the way you get your boards. There is no more personal personal board. Instead you have to assign it to a project. If you want a personal board, it becomes a personal project board. Moreover, if you have or had personal boards, which were not a part of any team boards, you cant move them to new project, so they are just hanging there without categories. The only way to move them into the system type would be recreating them from the scratch, which can be very frustrating. As a last point, even if you have Trello gold subscription (for personal use), you can have a maximum of 10 boards per project. If you want or need more, go upgrade to a business plan, even if you are still the only user. They announced to adjust these issues, but I, like many other personal Trello users, found it frustrating. So, is Trello good? Yes. But I would explore it detail before subscribing to it again.

Very very good job. I love Trello and use it a lot (free version). The simplicity can not be beat. I looked at Notion and decided it was too much effort to learn, but your video is making me re-think that. I am using this for myself but the free version of Trello has no calendar view and you can not assign tasks (something I don't generally do anyway). One thing that you did not mention that is real important to me is the ease of seeing what I have already done. In Trello, I move the card to a table for completed tasks which is organized by month and I can literally see every task. I put lots of notes in the comments of each task. I also have started using Trello cards with checklists as a habit tracker. One card for each habit for each month and the checklist has one item for each day of the month. I create this once as a Template and tweak the size of the checklist depending on the days of the month. This works great and I can make notes as I check off each day. In general, the ease, simplicity and wide variety of possible arrangements makes Trello hard to beat, but from what you said, I may just look again at Notion. Many thanks.
