So, guys this is going to be one of my last major videos for this channel. It's a bittersweet moment for me and I explain it in the video, so make sure to watch until the end. But this video is on, how is life after the Marine Corps, specially my life after the Marine Corps. You might find for the ones who have severed in the Military, that the things I mention in this video goes for all branches. So, this is also a video explaining how life is after the Military. Life after the Marine Corps or life after the Military, however you want to say it, might not be what you think it's like. People think getting out of the Marine Corps or getting out of the Military, is always going to be greener on the other side, but that's not always true. Getting out the Marine Corps can be a very hard and challenging time. Life after the Military isn't always rainbows and sunshines. Life after the Marine Corps is going to take time to adjust to. Hopefully in this video you can learn from my experience and hopefully make your experience getting out of the Marine Corps or getting out the Military easier, so you can have a smooth transition into life after the Marine Corps or life after the Military. As always thank for watching.

One hard thing a lot of folks realize is in the Military you are told what to do everyday all day, and in the real world you are faced with over 2,000 more decisions a day than you have been, so it can become daunting. In Military you’re told when to wake, when to PT, when to shower, when to eat, etc. you can become scatter brained in the civilian world real easy. There are true stories of prison escapees that had become so regimented and institutionalized, they broke out, and two weeks later turned themselves in because they were lost outside the walls. Crazy, but very true…

years 1-3 of being out were pretty brutal for me even though everything looked good on paper. I'm on year 6 now and while it gets easier in ways, you always miss your friends. An unfortunate reality too is that a lot of guys take their own like in those first few years out and it makes you feel very isolated in the civilian world because you don't have peers around to talk about it.

The one thing that never changes is that we're still Marines .. You will always have knowledge for the ones that want to take that step.. You know what's crazy bro is I feel the same exact way just flipped. I'm trying to enlist and join the marines to kinda figure my purpose. My dad is an army vet, he hopped out and did construction and now he's retired. I did rotc in highschool all four years. I did drill, colorguard, air rifle, inspections etc. After graduating some of my friends went on and enlisted and i just wasnt able. fast forward some years I'm seeing their posts on social media on big carrier ships, or some field in japan etc and I'm like damn I'm not doing shit. I just found it Ironic you posted a video like this and im feeling the SAME just opposite.

My dad always told me the other branches teach you to be a soldier/sailor/airman for however long your contract is but the marine corps trains you to to be a marine for life that's why sometimes it's referred to as a "cult". Most people think just because a military service memeber don't see combat that they can't have a really hard time and not all veterans that commit suicide are combat vets i feel like most of them was like you when they got out they just didn't feel like they had a purpose anymore on top of that the transitioning back to a civilian stress and I think alot more people need to make that known like you did. I am glad you found your place and got back on track. Keep doing you no matter if that's marine corps or not and the most important thing is take care of yourself and for everybody else reading this same applies. god bless you man.

100 percent. Replacing your real family of 20 years back home with your "new" family of Marines just because you went to boot camp together for 13 weeks...... thats brain washing and just what the Marines wants. Facts are you will be a civilian most of your life. Use the Marines as a stepping stone and dont let it define who you are.

I knew from the day I hit the fleet that I was going to be a Policeman. It took me 5 years after getting out but now I'm a 28 year Police Veteran. I tell folks all the time that there are only 2 things I know what to do and that's a Machinegunner and a Cop. Stick with the fitness. I wished I had.

The difference between people who transition well and those that don't is if they define there lives by there short time in the Marines or just use the Marines as a stepping stone. The guys that say things like "your always a Marine and my brother" are the guys who have troubles..... Sorry, going to step on some feet but its the truth. Training with someone for 4 months and than calling him a brother while you forget your real brother of 18-20 years back home because he is a civilian and cant possible understand......... that's just brain washing and does not make you a better person. 4 years is a blip in the average human lifespan. YOU WILL spend most of your life as a civilian. DO not forget this. Use the Marines as a stepping stone and you will be fine. Forgetting your family and friends back home and replacing with your new "Marines" family, like the Marines wants you to do, and you will have no support system after your short blip in your timeline.
