They fell to the film trope of mistakenly making ww1 era German soldiers look like nazis. The German empire's conduct on the battlefield and their overall worldview was no more or less brutal than the other empires I get it was supposed to be a great escape type scene at the end but still.

at the very beginning he had 200 pals. lost 130 in one fight, next one he lost 68 (only know that 2 survived and they added 2 more cuz of the french officers), There were like 20 people at the first camp, I think one guy was shot and killed while all the rest were captured and put into isolation. Next he went to the castle prison and made a few buddies, 2 russians died doing stupid shit. One buddy got captured while mc got away. This is not counting the others that died in the battle of the soomme, just his specific group. Damn, only sole survivor of like 4 major catastrophes that he shouldn't have ever gotten away from any of em.

MCMXCVII - 1997. Later than I expected tbh. Tv show probably went on for several years. Never for the predominance it deserved on British tv. Or perhaps it was just a bit too awkward demographic-wise. Too concerned with history for young children to appreciate it. Too childish for teenagers to admit to enjoying it. Too slow for action junkies. Too fast for it to be a drama. A good show with elements of unrealized greatness which many of us audience members remember with great fondness.

When the episodes of "Young Indiana Jones" were shown first, they always started with narration by an older Indy and they always ended with him narrating. So I guess when young Indiana has gotten away on his bike, the narration should take over only they edited it because for these 'movies' they combined two episodes into one movie. In this case, it worked pretty well because it shows Indy as Corporal in the Belgian army fighting (starting episode) and then he is being detained by the Germans (following episode).

Actually de Gaulle was captured by the Germans during the battle of Verdun. In March 1916, in the vicinity of Fort Douaumont after beeing knocked unconscious by an arty shell. The also recieved a bayonett wound in the left leg, apparantly by a German guard who thaught de Gaulle did not move along fast enough when he was moved back to the rear. He remained a POW until the end of the war, making five unsuccessful escape attempts. He also wrote his first book as a POW: "L'Ennemi et le vrai ennemi"

Thre are some independent military studies suggesting that lost rate of German vs French battles was 1:2 or 2:5. French fighting was poorly cordinated compared to that of German army. German defence was more flexible and artillery Co-operating better with infantry. French losses in 1914-16 were so high that there army in 1918 was smaller than in 1916. They were lacking men. Britain played bigger role aftrer mid 1916 than exhausted French army.

Ok. It is campy, filled with predictable outcomes and the ending was too convenient, too easy and not a suitable way to end a movie, a made forTV script maybe but nothing epic. But....I liked it. Interesting fact. Any of the Combat footage from WW1 that isn't usually the british or french blowing up Tons of explosive under german trenches is Made up. They're Recreations or in the case of cities like that town square with soldiers milling about. Any combat footage is recreated back at home in remade trenches dug into the countryside. To be fair it would have been impossible to film a trench assault with the tech of the time. I make this note because the countries making the films didn't make it clear and lied about them being propaganda footage.

He IS Indiana Jones. In his teens, I guess about 16, too young to enlist in the French army but the Belgian army did not care about such details ( this was mentioned in an earlier part of the movie). Which is a correct timeline for Indiana being in his thirties as an adult in the movies (even if played by an older actor) which play roughly between 1933 and 1939 , the Third Reich period before WWII.

What the actualy heck??!?!? Where was the ending??? He just bikes off and evades a motorcycle?? That makes no sense what so ever. What a horrible ending.... 1/10 for wasting my time leading up to an anti climactic ending.
