Thanks for taking your time to make this video, but before bidding jobs you really should check around to see what the normal rate is. I've found $8 a foot is normal, but for a large job or subcontractor work you probably want to drop it a dollar or two a foot at most. I just don't want to see someone not getting paid as they should. Don't forget you're charging not only for your time, but to pay for the skid steer and attachment, if not now for the future replacements you'll need and maintenance as well.

Need to slow machine speed down…… way too much pressure against the trencher causing it to slow down. Gives you a better, cleaner cut. You will know when your spoils are not in a nice pile. Looks like you got better at the end, but still slow down.

Just remember if you get the job. You should have the area where you are going to be doing the job have it marked for utilities. It should be a free service.

I only wished you were closer🤔 a dollar a foot is way too cheap. You're hired 👍Brock. I'm on Maryland's Eastern Shore my pricing structure to trench 6"wide and up to 48" deep $5.00 per ft.or Trench and cover $6.00 And if I'm the one laying pipe and hand digging around other utility's the price is $8.00 per ft. I hope that can give you some insight to trenching cost. Keep up the great work 👍👍

@@RockhillfarmYT a Vermeer CTX-160 mini-skid with a trencher attachment. It is perfect for my needs of trenching and multi-tasking. A quick on and off the operator platform. No climbing out of a cab for me. If you ever get the opportunity to try one, please do it. An experience you'll never forget.

Just an FYI. I'm building a new home and just got a quote from my electric company to bury my electrical service. The cost to trench down to 36 inches was $8.50 a foot! Hope that helps you price future jobs. This quote was in Central Ohio with somewhat rocky soil but nothing too terrible. Take care.

A flat fee of $75 plus a millage charge ( round trip ) coupled with $? per hour charge = cost to customer..that was my basis for trenching charges during my 38 year Contractor life ! It's fair for all involved. Good video Brock pc

I have a 30 plus year old Lowe trencher that was beaten up on the coral rock here. Had to rebuild the sprocket carrier and tensioner. I wish I had easy digging like you do! Surprised you didn't use the skid steer to backfill the trench.

lI usually run my ASV Skid steer at half/third speed.. just me. If the implement is too slow, will adjust accordingly, but that usually covers a GPM/Flow issue. Hydraulic force is pressure, so even small flow can do BIG Work, just takes longer. Lots of Snobs out there who rail the speed everytime, but I'd rather go slower with more precision. No big hurry for me. At full speed, mine gets rather figity.

I made a tractor attachment for backfilling trenches like that. It would be cool if we could get together sometime and you could dig the trench and I could come along behind you and backfill it with my incredible one-of-a-kind invention….

Yeah the chain speed seemed slow in the beginning, but I have never run a trencher myself, so that doesn't really mean anything. Looked like it was working well for you on high flow and that depth, so just watch your temperatures and have at it!

To bad you have to give it back!! At least you should be able to get all you need to get done...before you do!! Of course if you get tons of people wanting you to dig trenches for them...might be worth an upgrade to buy a bigger one! Just dont forget to call Mrs Utility to come mark out all the sewage/electric lines before you go digging!! I would hate to have that liability!

You get what you paid for. If you want to run high flow, spend the extra money and buy a high flow. Your trencher will work fine for now.. But you are causing excessive and unnecessary stress on the unit and I imagine blew your warranty.
