the thing that piss me off when they say Pac wasn't lyrical but he had the most powerful lyrics of all time. Just because he wasnt a punchline rapper he was direct and fierce. . No other rapper put that much power and emotion in their lyrics such as Pac. So to me Pac was they greatest lyricist of all time.

Nas, Pac and Eminem. Three best to ever do it for me personally. Still get goosebumps listening to Pac. I just feel him. His music is universal and soulful. 4 and 5 is up for debate. it's hard to make a top 5 but you have to consider their body of work and impact on the culture. My top 5 are Kool G Rap, Nas, Black Thought, Scarface, Eminem. Honorable mentions AZ, Big L, Big Pun, Vinnie Paz, Ill Bill, RA the rugged man, MF Doom, Mos Def, Joe Budden, Immortal tech, and the interesting odd ball Aesop Rock. Jashan Bajracharya big L just had punchlines and tough raps. Bars is fire but he doesn’t have depth to his lyrics. Reasonable doubt has so many more layers than lifestyles of the poor and dangerous. Rap isn’t just about metaphors and thought talk. His multis were tight too.

No order: Rakim, MF DOOM, Black Thought, Ghostface, Eminem. So many others I could mention, but for me it’s about longevity and consistent lyricism. A couple folks people name (Pac, Big, Andre 3K, Kendrick, etc.) have had short careers-either in general, or just so far-or have been around for a while but have less volume. Just one man’s opinion.
