This family had a pet coyote that they had trained and tamed. They also rescued a cat and were happy to find that these two got along very well. They played around and wrestled around the room despite their difference in size.

Love how the coyote will keep intentionally lowering itself or looking away from the cat as a show of vulnerability when it looks like the cat is reassessing how to gain any advantage in the game against a creature so much larger than it. Great sportsmanship with a touch of mischief.

It's interesting how in sync they are with each other. The cat lays down and the coyote lays in the same position as the cat. Almost like they're mimicking each other. Also the coyote lets the cat attack him and then when he attacks in a playful way he stops and gives the cat a chance. This is not all that common even when cats are playing together much less when it's a domesticated dog and cat. It's rare when you see such a pair have that kind of bond.

It's beautiful how these 2 play and coexist: It's all about how they're raised and with whom and/or what. Reminds me of another channel I watch with a big black panther and a Rottweiler that live together... It's the opposite with a bigger cat than dog. But these 2 display the "rough play" very well: the coyote lays with her throat exposed in a submissive position to make the cat comfortable attacking, but that's because the coyote craves the roughness the cat displays and can reciprocate without being too rough back. ❤️😻😸

Rowan Brult correction, dogs ARE wolves. Same species, Canis Lupus, subspecies familiaris. The difference is that dogs have the activated "domestication gene", which only some animals have (for example, zebras do not have the equine domestication gene found in horses and donkeys, which explains why centuries upon centuries of zebra domestication failed). This coyote *is* still a wild animal, genetically, but that's ok. A tame animal is still perfectly fine with humans as long as its happy and its needs are being properly met. Our birds and reptiles are all tame, we love them, and as far as we know none of them carry any domestication gene at all. We haven't technically domesticated coyotes specifically, but as they are also a subspecies of Canis Lupus I'm sure they carry the gene. I don't think anyone would want to domesticate coyotes though, due to the issues we have with their populations.

theyre not playing the way a dog and cat would. theyre playing the way two natural predators would. theyre having so much fun and its so cute. this is how kittens and coyote cubs play together to learn how to hunt. this is genuinely super enriching for them. its so cute that theyre friends. also, the coyote frequently rolls over and shows his belly to the cat, telling the cat that he knows its smaller than him and the cat has the advantage so its not aggression-based.

The canine attacks in canine ways (nipping at the back end of the cats, repeatedly) and the feline attacks in its feline way (one singular leap towards the throat). Fascinating!

@@raphk9599 do you go to the gym and spar to have fun and sharpen your skills? that's what i said. it's play, but the play has serious implications. they're both training to deal with each other, but I see mutual respect besides the sibling rivalry. Like a very smart woman once said in a documentary, *"animals from different species play democratically"* I see EXACTLY THAT here.

Probably because the cat knows the coyote can take him being rough due to his superior size and strength, while the coyote knows the cat can’t handle his full strength.

I'm in awe of the coyotes intelligence and control! But the cat is a master of responding to every move of the coyote in a manner that re-invites the " lets play" mode! Truly a very cool video display! Now, if only our human species could learn something from these two critters the world would be a better place!
