The paper mesh has to stay away from moisture for sure. We've also made them out of fabric mesh which is a combination of Polypropylene and Polyester, less raveling I think with it and probably holds up better too.

Thank you for watching and shopping with us, we appreciate it))) Making roses out of burlap definitely is harder than using satin or sheer ribbon and it takes a longer for sure. You might try not gathering the ribbon too much. The center had to be so large, so stitching the edges together we thought we help it stay in position without the center popping out. If it just doesn't work for you, you could make an alternate center out of a thinner ribbon, or use the blossom of a spray. You could also make some "ruffle" picks out of another color of mesh, burlap, or paper and fill in the center with them. And don't worry, I've unrolled my share of roses that just didn't turn out right, especially when I first started making them. It's always a good idea to practice the technique on some scrap first. Just drop us a note if we can be of further help))

I've had the tutorial wreath on my back porch now for several weeks and the spray has helped. Course I have a pretty good sized roof over the back porch so the elements don't bother it too much)))

It can be made of 10" Yellow Poly Burlap or 10" Yellow Fabric Mesh or any 10" yellow Deco Poly Mesh.

I've used the paper outside at my house, but the door is fairly well protected from rain. After several weeks/months (at my house) the paper does droop some. If you're planning on using plain or metallic Deco Poly Mesh, you may need to plan for extra layers since it's not as dense and more "petals" might be needed for good coverage. You can also use 10" Poly Burlap which is all plastic too, but it has about the same density as the paper mesh, it's a little heavier, but works well. Thank you for watching. I'm sorry, we don't make them to sell. Using the burlap ribbon does make it quite a handful. Try using a brown ribbon that is not so thick.

I've never tried starch, not sure how it would hold up outside, but always worth a try. Try it on some scraps and see what happens.

Cindy, did the spray starch work? All I have is liquid "ravel stop" for fabric, and it's just too time consuming to apply it to all of the squares.

Thanks for watching! We've made them out of paper, poly burlap, burlap, fabric mesh and poly mesh. It all frays, some maybe worse than others. My favorite to use is the fabric mesh which is a combination of polypropylene and polyester.
