Bomman and Bellie, the tribal couple who starred in the Oscar-winning documentary The Elephant Whisperers, have alleged that director Kartiki Gonsalves failed to remunerate them and did not return the money they spent for the shoot. The couple, who are members of the Kattunayakan tribe, have levelled several allegations against the filmmakers and the production company Sikhya Entertainment, including exploitation, threats, and harassment. The star couple speak to TNM’s Shabbir Ahmed on how they were exploited and how they were cheated by the makers of The Elephant Whisperers.

Interesting that neither Bomman nor Belli Mahout nor their legal counsel know what the contract between Netfix and director Kartiki Gonsalves provided the director with financial compensation. It’s known that Netflix paid all of the director’s production costs for the five year duration that the director invested in making this documentary.
