Salt potatoes are my favorite. Size of a pingpong ball, golden color, boiled in heavily salted water. As always skins on for a vitamin and trace elements burst. Start them in cold water bring to a boil and medium low boil for 18 to 20 minutes. Next is totally optional. Remove to a bistro platter. Use a fork to smash them down. Next I cut pats of real butter lots!! Sour cream lots!!! And season with garlic and onion powder, lots of fresh cracked black pepper, and of course salt. Mind you Im always low sodium in my blood due to medication so I dont spare the salt. Eat them right away while hot! You'll be glad ya did.

I think part of the issue with a "real" experience is the limitations and costs of importation in their country. What they give them is what they can make with local products. Anything that they try that isn't local is sent to them by viewers like us. They're not buying things and having it sent to them. So, having that in mind, it's easier to look past some things not being truly "authentic" because they're trying their best with what they have and the religious and health restrictions of the participants. I know you weren't being negative, but felt like that needed some explanation. I'm sure there are other reasons, but I'm sure cost is a main factor. If they can locally source things and make the lives of these people better with the savings, I'm good with that.

@AlmaNegra420
@AlmaNegra420 2 жыл бұрын
@@lizchick2659 If you think they didn't do a good job then, by all means, fork out the money to buy the products and ship it to them. I know for a fact that they have an address where you can send them things and they'll gladly accept it. Until then, please shut up about them dropping the ball or not being authentic. You and the others being negative are so privileged that you have no idea how people live in other places. Maybe you should do some "research" before you make comments like this. These people live in small, poor villages and get brought to a studio in a small, poor city to record videos. They provide them with what they can afford and locally source. That's not a knock on them. Just the reality of the situation. But, it's a bit frustrating to see people assuming that since THEY can go online and order anything they want with no problems that EVERYONE lives like that. The title says "tribal people try" because that's what they are. Tribal people. They've "tried" a microwave and other electronics for the first time on this channel, so you think these people have computers and smart phones to order stuff from Amazon on? Gimme a break.

She would bake it slowly and then we would put it in small bags to share. I was hardly ever sick as a child. We fed the red clay to pregnant women because it contained more iron. Mustadimes, huckeberry cakes, natall, salmon tarts 😋, just so much we get got from the woods, there was no need to go to the store much.

Ojibwe native from MN here. It is the same thing in my opinion. fried dough. Yum! It can be eaten as a savory or a sweet bread. when us natives were put on small reservations, the US government changed our diet and food traditions forever. Natives were put on reservations in the 1800s with the promise of food rations etc., since we could no longer hunt and gather for ourselves due to land theft. The women figured out how to make the frybread with the flour we were rationed. So it's not technically an original food, but it's tasty all the same.

The description of native Americans (i.e. indigenous people) is wrong. It's centered on Europeans and doesn't mention that they were the first humans to inhabit that land and that there was a genocide against them. Also you should have mentioned that corn and potatoes original come from the Americas and were cultivated by indigenous people. Instead of saying this you objectified them as poor and said 'they only had corn and potatoes', as if they somehow failed to have proper food or something.

As an American I am glad to see our native people get this recognition! I wish here in America they would get more recognition in the media. I live in Arizona where there is twenty reservations and twenty two tribes. Near where I live there is the Hualapai tribe, Supai, and Ft. Mohave Tribes. The most well known tribe in Arizona is the Navajo or Dine in their lannguage. Sadly I lost a Navajo Veteran friend to Covid early in the Pandemic. One day I'd like to go up to the Navajo Reservation and see Navajo Mountain and pay my respects.

They make potato curry and other dishes, but do they realize that potatoes come from the Americas? I’m Cheyenne River/Oglala Lakota, from South Dakota, I love that you are learning about other people in the world and you’re always so gracious.

Many Native American Tribes make their own recipe version of Fry Bread. Rice and Beans and many different recipe types using corn, varieties of squash and other vegetables too. And of course they catch and cook fish from rivers, lakes, streams and the Oceans.

This video was basically the equivalent of making a video about Pakistani food, and then giving people nothing but pappadums and plain roti, and showing them a colonizer's painting from the British Raj to represent what modern-day Pakistanis look like.

Not all native Americans wore head dress or lived in teepees.
@royhorn2782
@royhorn2782 2 жыл бұрын
No kidding. They lived in all kinds of structures. Teepees were typical to the nomadic tribes of Native Americans. Teepee structures were used far before the crossing from Asia into the Americas. They brought them with them as evidenced by all the teepees still in use by current nomadic Asian as well as Inuit people. Inuit people typically use them during hunting trips if they are going to gone from their village for an extended period of time.
