HRM Eze Eme Ogbumba Chike the Okum 1 of Amaiyi Igbere Autonomous Community braved the elements on December 28, 2023 and came to the bush at Ogbonta Ozara Amankalu, Igbere Autonomous Community to attend my Igbotomma reception and to honor his late friend, my brother HRH Eze Charles Onwukwe Iheke, the Nkalukwu 1 of Amankalu Igbere Autonomous Community.
Eze Ogbumba accompanied two of his fellow nde Eze, HRM Eze O. N. Chukwu, the Ekpuakomini 1 of Okafia Igbere and HRH Ebiri Oteiri Okoro Ola 1 of Ohumola Igbere Autonomous Community.
It was indeed a Royal representation of Igbere Clan Council of Nde Eze as they were welcomed by Eze-ogo Kalu Michael Awa, the traditional Prime Minister on behalf of Amankalu Igbere.
Nde Eze poured libation and prayed for success of the Municipal Complex project.
Eze Ogbumba corroborated my story about the 1987 Igbere chieftaincy conferment.
The King was genuine and stood by historical facts. Eze Ogbumba epitomized integrity and humble disposition and love for nhe emezi emezii. Little did I know that, the occasion would be one of our last two meetings, the other being on Jan 1st, 2024 at the 92 birthday celebration of Mama Ugwa Ogbureke and that outing represents the last handshake with Eze Ogbomba who has now gone to join others who preceded him in the land of the spirits.
To Igbere Clan Council of Nde Eze, unu biko Kaa nka. To the immediate family of Eze Ogbumba, to my friends Justice Onuoha A. K. Ogwe, Engr. Emma Ukandu, un gberu. To nde Amiyi Eze in Council, nde Igbere and Bende Traditional Rulers Council ta unu karu obu. Nde Abia State have lost a great teacher.
To Eze Ogbumba, I pray that all who follow your footsteps will replicate your kindness and peaceful existence in the annals of Igbere history and your legacy engraved in the sands of time.
