@tinymahuta Overall I'd say Carter is the better player all round, just not in defence, but there is no question the Wilkinson is the bigger legend, his name is far more well known, and his kicking technique is globally recognised even by none rugby fans. Wilkinson had far more success in France compared to Carter and if it weren't for his injuries he would have most likely held the record for most points scored.
@coppo92614 жыл бұрын
@tinymahuta mate Wilkinson won world player of the year in 2003. I mean more success in france by him winning European championship twice in a row and the national league to end his career. Carter went to France and left empty handed in comparison. He can play when hes surrounded by the best in the world but Wilkinson proved he can play with anyone.
@coppo92614 жыл бұрын
@tinymahuta Mate you're clearly some young dinwit who probably wasnt even alive when Wilkinson was in his prime. Wilkinson played in 2 world cup finals, one more than Carter and the only reason Carter holds the point records is because Wilkinson was injured for well over 4 full international seasons. Winning the European cup is a very big deal, and the fact that Wilkinson did it twice when playing in France, and Carter didnt, means a lot. Carter spent a career playing with the best team in the world, which is a big reason to which he was allowed to play like he did, the all blacks could make anyone look good. Wilkinson spear headed one of the shittest England teams we've had to the world cup final, sorry but Carter would have never been able to do that. The fact that both played in france and only one was able to find a huge amount of proves my point through and through.

There's no doubting his ability on the pitch, and he goes down as one of the greatest players to ever play the game. But his attitude and persona is more important than any of that. I'm a 22 year old guy who loves rugby and has played to an average standard throughout my life, but I want to be like Jonny outside of rugby. He is such an amazing role model for young kids and adults, if I can be as nice as this man and if everyone was as nice as him, the world would be a better place. All the best Jonny, thanks for showing me what a man should be.

This guy is a true rugby hero, and should be quoted when looking to put forward all the best bits of English rugby. A true ambassador. Who knows what greater heights he could have reached if injuries had not intervened. However, perhaps that break in play was what he needed and going to Toulon gave him the momentum to keep going without the pressure of England team choices behind him. I wish him a happy retirement from play and hope he finds contentment in his future choices.- from Mary Heath
