My Dad Robert Lee Ison was buried here before being returned to his family in Beckley, WVA. He was killed on December 18, 1945 during the Battle of the Bulge. He enlisted knowing he might be killed and leave 4 children and his wife alone. He felt defending freedom for his family was so important he enlisted and died fighting for his country. We are grateful to all of those who fought by his side.

I’m sure you mean December of 1944. The Battle of the Bulge took place December 1944-January 1945. Just wanted to clear that up, not disrespecting you or your father’s sacrifice. God Bless.

My wife Melanie and I visited this cemetery in April 2013. A day later, we met up with our friends Rick and Joanne in Paris. Being Air Force veterans, Rick and I took a tour to Normandy and got to visit the American military cemetery there. Seeing so many headstones left a lasting memory for us. Rick served in Vietnam while I was in the 1st Gulf War.

Sobering, beautiful video. Thankful for our men and women in the armed forces, and those who have served, and to those who gave their lives and those injured in defending our country.

I agree .They should be honored . But, if they were defending OUR country, why are they buried in Europe?

As a Belgian I can only say this: your sons buried in our soil are our sons. We will never ever forget the sacrifices by the Americans to liberate us. We will honor them forever 🇧🇪🇺🇸

My cousin Andrew Gula lies here. He lost his life at 18 years of age. In 2016 my son presented me with a trip to Germany. He works for the military and found Andy’s grave for me. I was 80 at the time. It is unbelievable the emotion that I felt. Indescribable! God bless all our veterans and current active service men. US NAVY VET 1953-1961

I was on the firing squad detail for the 60th anniversary of First Infantry Division liberating the area. It was 2004 and I was 1 month out of basic training on that detail. It was breathtaking. The most peaceful and beautiful place on earth.

All fallen soldiers should be honored. They gave the ultimate sacrifice in what they believed in. It's always those politicians and puppet masters at the very top that lead men into war. Most people want peace!
