I'm a HUGE hockey fan and had really high hopes for this when I backed it. It exceeded my expectations. Hands down my favorite sports board game. Glad you enjoy it as well. Thanks for the review.

Being a big hockey fan myself, this was a no-brainer to back on KS when I saw it. Gives me a slight feel of Blood Bowl but with not as many things to remember and keep track of. It's missing the league experience out of the box but I've come up with my own rules for that, and added some skills and stuff to kinda make it like a Blood Bowl league experience. Highly recommended from me if you're a hockey fan for sure, or just sports in general.

I love Blood Bowl and I can see the similarities but this game has surpassed it in so many ways for me. It's easier to teach and less fiddly. Plays way faster and when you fail and things go wrong in this game, it isn't as rage inducing as Blood Bowl can be. Trick Shot is just awesome fun.

Great review Joel, I also backed this at the Painted Level but also bought 4 unpainted teams to do a few of my own, I need to have my TB Lightning as well as a few Shark themed teams! Great video! I need that cheat sheet!

Great review, Joel! I picked up a painted copy from the publisher site last month and love it. You hit all the points on what elevates this above so many other sports games: streamlined rules, excellent components, snappy and fun to play.

Very interesting game. I can see the appeal for hardcore hockey fans to paint their own teams. The painted ones look sharp though and match the cards. Definitely something to keep on my radar. Take the shot! Take the shot!

was very skeptical, but every additional rule you explained made it sound better and better. the simple, fast pace immediately makes me want customizable ability cards, but like you say, maybe it would obstruct that turn balance. if only it were soccer!

The game comes with a few blank line cards so you can create your own. Also I don't think I've come across a game that is so easy to tweak or make up your own house rules. A bunch of people have come up with some on BGG.

@@_The_Rake blank cards!? sounds like the good old days. have you tried any games with custom abilities? im curious how much can be introduced before play loses its snap

@@gordo6908 I haven't tried making any of my own. There are so many already included. Pass thru other players, move thru other players, Defensemen have a speed of 3, successful hit disables opponents line card, all of your players are size 3, don't have to add 2 dice on a slapshot, etc. There's just a crazy amount of powers and different ways you can choose to use the cards to change up the game.

I think it would help one understand why some of the rules are the way they are. But, I don't think it's such that you need to know hockey to get it. But, probably it won't actually be that fun without that frame of reference.

I'm so sad I discovered this game after the kickstarter was over. And they say they won't put it in retail stores. I hope people keep the buzz going so the publisher will have no choice but to reprint it.

@@DriveThruReview Do you have inside info? I can't order it from their site and I haven't heard anywhere they are reprinting. I expect someday they will, but no news on this that I've seen.
