Excellent tip on not filling small buckets up all the way! I've had to learn, and then re-learn that before lol! Great video! Thanks for sharing!

I’ve got a 305.5 in northeast Louisiana where we dig river clay, which in the old filled oxbows is very sticky. We mostly use the 12” for cleaning the big machine buckets. At some point they all become heavy spatulas. I’ve considered building a flip down bucket gouger. That machine with a 50” bucket has done more for my roadsides than the 14M I bought. I machined pedal extensions I can send you. Plus a machined “key” to keep the beeper cancel button rocked.

What shall we call your "Little Supervisor?" "MISS DP," since Mrs. DP is already taken? HEY, at the beginning of the video, as a former EVOC/Pursuit driving instructor, I was going to compliment you on your... High-speed Backing... and then realized you were going forward, and we were seeing the (forward) reflection in your back window. Another good video, Mike. A couple years ago, I dug a trench on my nephews ranch to drain a spring that flooded his fields every spring. About three-hundred feet from the spring to the creek. I got that bucket chock full of clay and nothing short of dynamite, or a digging bar, could get it out. NOW I KNOW how to prevent that in the future. Thanx....

yup shallow cuts and don't pack it in there. long shallow cuts. A lot of people dig from the bottom of there trench and thats a good way to pack it into the bucket and tear out unknown utilities. We've all run someone thing out of fuel at some point. surprised to see the injector lines under the seat. Most ive seen have the engines in 180* i guess.

We build 10 or so Dams/ponds, per year, up here in WIS. They R engineered and funded through the county soil conservation service. Most R on farm land. They normally use 8" to 12" sch 40 PVC. We have 2 install anti seep collars on the pipes and backfill compact the soil with jumpin jacks, to prevent water from eating along the pipes. Nice sized residential pond there.

Thinking about cutting out the sides of the trenching bucket to make it into a spoon instead of a scoop. Have to leave enough material for breakout and strength, but remove enough to avoid clay getting stuck.

I bet if you welded a steel pipe or tube at the top of the bucket to always allow air in you could take bigger scoops. Just like shotgunning a beer! haha. Also, keeping the inside of the buck smooth would help reduce friction and make sure there is a slight taper in the walls of the bucket

from my 58 year experience that 6" over flow pipe was a waste of time and money, with that large amount of step hill side a hard heavy rain storm once that pond is full, the water will way over run that pipe, like putting a straw into a bath tub over flow, that over flow pipe needs to be minimum 24", buti put a 36" in for that extra back up, come try and dig here in my hill sides with a small bucket, you will have that bucket jamed up by the 3rd dig, the red, gray sticky clay here is like snot, its the best modeling clay around, it is need to look at the walls of the hole to see all the laters of different color clay, it is like someone, was laying it down in 10 to 18" layers, the gray clay layers look like a frosting on a cake, and as thick as it,, the bucket teeth cuts perfect ledges that hold there shap, gray, red, dark red to 3 different colors of gray, 37 feet down is still the same
