These are my shoes! Tring shoe repair did a great job. I've had this pair for 10 years and this is the first time I've had to get the bottoms done. I bought them from ducker and son in Oxford which are sadly no longer in business.

So, these are Ducker's boots? I don't remember them selling other brands there, although their own footwear was made in one of the Northampton factories.
@spudgun3014
@spudgun3014 3 жыл бұрын
@@karldelavigne8134 yes you're correct they outsourced but had a workshop at the back of the shop. The insoles have the ducker and son branding. Such a shame they went under as the shop was full of history. My understanding is that the son wanted to move on and sold it to new owners who didn't manage it very well.

@@spudgun3014 It was a lovely shop. As I understand it, the couple who ran it turned down offers from interested buyers because they thought the character of the shop would change. I think there is now a wine shop in its place which is a shame. I thought these boots didn't look like Tricker's, who don't do fiddleback waists on their RTW.

Having been a cobbler for 15 years trainind by my brother who worked for Clarks "when they were made shoes the uk" I worked for Brooks and then for Timpsons as a manager, I loved the work and took great pride in it. It's the only job I had when after a holiday I was glad to get back to work and get a good snif of the glue lol. So I want you to be honest now How many uppers have you accidentally stitched to the welt. I have managed two. I love watching your videos,it brings back ssooooo many great memories. My best job was making a shoe for an elephant at Bristol zoo

My dad always had Duckers, and whenever he sent them for repair and they were ready, he would get a personalised letter on handmade paper in flowery language, something like "We beg to inform you, Sir, that your footwear is ready for collection". It was a nice touch, and it's very sad that they are no longer there.
