It’s frustrating to spot an entangled seal and lose track of it in a crowd of identical seals. That feeling of knowing there’s an entangled seal, but you just can’t see it. We fortunately managed to spot the seal again and conduct the rescue. Although the entanglement was in a bad spot, the seal remained calm and the rescue was completed sooner than expected.

It must be nerve-wracking when you work at the sharp end of the seal. Luckily he decided to cooperate even though he was angry. Nice teamwork, guys!👏

Entanglement through the mouth area always mean extra caution from the rescuers. While rescues are normal for most of the time mouth means teeth and seals are not afraid too use the teeth if they have too.

@@michaelmcgrath7712 -- sometimes I think the rescuers should have leg and arm guards, cause every now and then the seal's sharp teeth get way too close to their arms and legs ... especially poor Tony -- he's definitely had HIS share of run-ins with feisty seals.

Two things about the OCN crew - the work they do freeing seals from entanglements is 1st class but unfortunately their work might never end because there seems to be an endless number of entangled seals.

With millions of seals, and the percentage who get entangled without ever being seen, the work of OCN barely makes any difference in real terms. But to each seal that is rescued, it makes all the difference in the world.

Fundraising is really going strong! Thanks to all of the LEGEND subs who have been part of the save, at least via fundraising. OCN HEROS would carry on without us but it's so much easier when we are helping. We are unfortunately not solving the problem, but only treating the symptoms of the plastic crisis with our rescues. These videos aim to show the consequences of this pollution and create a change to tackle its roots - namely our addiction to single-use plastics, the lack of law enforcement at sea, and the shortcomings of the recycling industry.

I would guess that it makes the rescuer nervous to deal with entanglements involving the mouth, since it may mean a bite from an angry seal. Great job of being able to remove it fairly quickly. ❤❤❤

I am sure the poor seal couldn't see or eat properly with that rope round his face. He must have been so uncomfortable just trying to survive😢. Thank you OCN - he definitely noticed what you did, even if he wasn't sure why.❤

Getting him in the net went well, then figuring out where to get the line had to be done carefully near his eye, then he wanted to keep his mouth closed, until he realized he no longer wanted that ball of line in his mouth, and it was like him saying, here you go, it's all yours now, then out into the water he goes. Another great save👍👍

I’ll bet when you all go home at night you worry about the seals that are out there and need your help. So many entanglements. So many wounds. Words cannot express what I feel for all of you and the way you all are so patient and loving to the poor animals.

What an amazing team effort Denzil is incredibly fast & with only 1 intent he netted the boy The amazing thing was that he collaborated and remained totally still while the cut was being done OVER HIS EYE !!! Incredible rescue Thank you OCN team !

Mr Seal at the end had to give Denzil a little chase just to show what it was like for him. Fair enough for him being so cooperative during the actual procedure-he took directions quite well. Well done all 🦭🌊💙

Judging by the way those strands were holding their shape, it looked more like a tangle of thin, plastic-insulated wires to me. The seal's eye was quite red, so it looked like it was poking him in the eye. I'll bet he was glad to get rid of that!

Poor babies. I thought taking care of all of the animals and the environment was a given for our own survival and decency. I feel really sad that so many other humans feel they can litter, poach and wreck whole habitats for their own selfish wants.
