TRIM BANDS Best Technique. Rod Building tips

By far the easiest and fastest way to make trim bands that I know of! Step by Step guide... Hope it helps you! I'm building on a MHX SW956 Swimbait rod blank and running CRB STANDARD guides, and besides the trim, I am using PROWRAP nylon 862 in size B. Credit to Central Florida Lip Ripper as this is his rod!

No ugly tag end under the main wrap shining through, no need to do the trim band first, no trim band getting loose before applying the finish. This is one of the best ways to apply a trim band and the video shows it decently without hesitation. Thank you!

Good technique.. just having issues with the tiny tags showering.... but im old when it comes to wrapping lol

Thanks for watching! Yes I used to have that same problem too. There isn’t any bullet proof way to solve that issue but it is definitely preventable. If you make sure the wrap is pulled tight, take a razor blade and cut each tag as close to the wrap as possible. Another step you can take is if there is still a little tag left, take a lighter and barely flash heat at the little tag. This makes it “shrink” and also stiffens it so it is easier to cut off. Yeah just keep trying, It took me a while to even find this good technique, then I had to get better at it. Let me know if anything wasn’t clear enough in the vid.

This is a last resort only think ahead and lay your trim color in and lock it in with ur main thread will save you alot of headaches waste alot of time and threadbwith this method
