Your pig is very well behaved. I have 4 long haired and it's a nightmare and chore to cut their hair as they scuttle around a lot plus I don't have anyone to help me. I can't cut mine like you with the piggy on the floor but I have to hold them upside down in 1 palm and snip away quickly with some kitchen shears (as I find they are the best for layers of hair in the fewest chops. Fortunately, I haven't chopped off a nipple just yet though have been close! I highly recommend this to be a 2 person job.

We got Rocky, a Sheltie Guinea Pig, from the local humane society. When we first got him his hair was tangled and matted. I never had a long haired Guinea Pig before and was afraid to use scissors, especially around his rump! We used our electric hair trimmers. Why don't I see more info about this method on the Internet? It was relatively easy and safer for Rocky! (Maybe I should do a video!)

I know it's frustrating but it's nice to see that someone else's pig jumps around the way mine does. I was starting to think Caramel was just a drama queen lol. Using actual hair cutting scissors might help you. I brought mine at a salon supply shop and they cut the hair without tugging it, they also cut really smoothly.

How old is he? He looks so big, you must take excellent care of him. Most people don't realize how big some piggies can get. Our local pet store buys small pets instead of ordering more and they had a huge four year old male who was close to a foot long and was closer to the size or a rabbit.

He has such a beautiful coat, what is it with pigs and sitting in their wee? My boys are faaar worse when it comes to nail trimming! :)

The reason he gets scared is cause your using regular scissors and you need to use grooming scissors cause the regular scissors his hair get stuck and hurt them

As someone with two long haired piggies, I just want to point out that when mattting/knotting starts to form on their rears it is painful for them if you just tug and pull on the knots. When they jump and turn their rears away from you its because you pulled too hard. They don't have voices to tell us it hurts so please be aware of the signs. I find it easiest to gently hold the knot in my fingers and start to very gently cut the top layer. Don't start cutting on the bottom as that will just pull on the knot, work your way down. It's best to distract them with veggies as well!

No, a rabbits kick is very powerful and can really hurt, even kill pigs, even if your rabbit is really kind, it can happen by accident when a rabbit binkys x

I am an expert piggy hair dresser ,i must do a video one day but i need some one to hold the camera ,i always cut the hair underneath my piggys super short and i cut every thing that touches the grond to just above the ground lenget and in january because my piggys live indoors the long haired ones get a short cut about 1inch all over and even shorted all underneath them !

I can tell that your guinea pig doesn't trust you properly, firstly, trim ur guinea pig around every 2 weeks and brush through ur guinea pigs hair nearly everyday! Doing this will make your guinea pig trust you more and it doesn't hurt them when it comes to trimming your guinea pig. I have experience because i have a sheltie guinea pig who loves it when i give him a haircut because i don't make it painful for him. Please use this advice on your guinea pig it can be very useful! :)
