TRIP REPORT | IBERIA: Ex-Busiest Route in the World! ツ | Airbus A321 | Barcelona to Madrid

4 жыл бұрынIberia Trip Report from Barcelona to Madrid, route known as "Puente Aéreo", which links both cities more than 25 times per day, onboard one Iberia Airbus A321.
Before the high-speed train (AVE) connection between both cities, this route was (for some years) the most served route in the world by one airline (Iberia, in this case). Today, this route is shared with its partner Vueling with the only competence of Air Europa (which flies it with their A330 and B787).

Thanks a lot, Mick! Iberia is still operating the A346 while they receive the new A350. Plus Ultra made an amazing deal with the lessors for those A346, so seems that they will fly them for a long time! 😊

Cierto, tiene una media de 200 vuelos a la semana. Yo he hecho el famoso puente aéreo en un 787-8 Madrid/Barcelona y la vuelta 737-8. Es brutal la alta demanda y eso que existe el ave, la gran cantidad de pasajeros en ambos medios de transporte que deben mover al día.

@@bart6764 No, pusiste 2 ceros de más. FL50 son unos 5.000 pies. Pero FL5 no se usa. Los niveles de vuelo se refieren a miles de pies. Saludos

Well, I'm not a fan of the Spanish trains. In my opinion they are far from the European standard in terms of onboard service. However, I've never travelled on the high-speed one. I will give it a try soon. Glad that you've enjoyed the video! 😊

Hi, and congratulations for the report. I have had occasion to travel from both terminals of Barcelona Airport. the versatility of the stands is a great way to optimize space. arriving from the finger directly to the departures if you are in transit from Schengen aerea is an advantage. in my airport of reference (Malpensa) it is not possible. Even in the case of my country, high-speed rail has had an impact on the Milan / Rome air route.

Looks like a very smooth approach and landing in Madrid, normally you get a lot of thermals, but perhaps with the cloud cover they were absent

Yep, that's true. Especially during summer, there are lots of thermals. However, this video was recorded 1 month ago, so it was winter :)

For the Air Bridge flights, it seems they almost always use gates A1-A6 at BCN T1. Is there dedicated gates in MAD for the Air Bridge.?

Yep, gates 1-4 are mainly dedicated to this route by Iberia. However, Vueling flights to Madrid depart also from gates located nearby. Hope you've enjoyed the video! 😊

Durante una época lo fue, sí. Ahora la mayor del mundo está en Corea del Sur. Lo único que se de FlyBe es que arrastraban problemas financieros desde hace años. Saludos

2times flying IB on DUS-PMI-DUS Leg via MAD, delays on DUS-MAD and PMI-MAD with missing both connecting flights! So not my best IB memories and experiences, I definitely prefer Vueling! Over 10 ✈️, all on time, no issues > VY is MUCH better!

I found that Iberia offers very tight connecting times, specially during summer. Even for people that we are used to fly a lot, sometimes is impossible to catch the connection... I can't imagine for the vast majority of the people that only flyes like 2 or 3 times per year or even less... =/

Busiest route in Europe: ORY-TLS 27 daily flights operated by Air France on weekdays before pandemic, 24 nowadays. If you add the 7 daily flights operated from CDG, you have a total of 32 daily flights operated by Air France between Paris and Toulouse.

No se en qué ganaría un pasajero si la ruta deja de ser operada por Iberia Express y pasa a ser de Volotea. La verdad es que sólo veo desventajas. En lo que respecta a mi, espero poder viajar pronto a La Palma. Saludos!

What was the total time from the time you left city center of Barcelona to city center of Madrid? Now compare this to the high speed train.

Around 25 min to get to the airport. 30min for boarding. 50min for flying. 25min to the city centre. Thats the plane. The train takes around 3h plus the time to get to the station and then from the station to your destination. Plus the views anf feelings on the plane that a train cant ever offee.

Great video as usual, gracias! Though ex-busiest route in the world? I assume you meant busiest domestic route in the world, but that was never the case at least for the last 20 years. MAD-BCN is indeed the busiest route in Europe (though FRA-TXL is coming pretty close if not already overtook the 1st spot now and BCN-PMI might even take the 1st spot in Spain soon). If you look at the busiest domestic routes in the world now, the top 50 doesn't include a single city pair in Europe.

Thanks a lot! Glad that you've enjoyed it! In the video description, you have the explanation. This route was the one with more frequencies between 2 cities in the world for some years. FRA-TXL route has 11 frequencies per day. BCN-PMI up to 13-14. MAD-BCN has more than 20 frequencies per day and had up to 30-35 when it was the busiest one.

@@OnBoardHD Got it, though busiest nowadays is more about # of traveling pax, GMP-CJU or TYO-OSA are shorter than MAD-BCN yet everyday you get lots of A330 and 7/6,7,8/7. IB don't normally put widebodies on the route though UX does.The AVE killed the route for O/D pax.

Miedo? De una gripe? No seré yo el que contribuya a reventar la economía por un temor fundado únicamente en las ganas de los medios de comunicación de ganar dinero. Que hay que tener precauciones por supuesto que sí. Pero se trata de higiene básica, como en cualquier otra temporada de gripe. Desde luego que seguiré volando.
