Today I’m covering a very common and busy route in the GCC: Kuwait to Dubai.
There are currently up to 17 daily flights between both cities on various airlines.
Today I’m traveling on Kuwait’s national flag carrier Kuwait Airways.
This is one of the airlines that has made a sudden incredible improvement on product and service in the past years and I felt curious to try it out again! (The last time was on an old A340-300..)
And I was pleasantly surprised: I fell in love with their A320neo and trust that it will surprise you too!

I flew their a330 200 back in August, my ticket was for economy but they literally gave us a free upgrade on business class that was the best flight I have ever had in my life! Hope you enjoyed your stay in Kuwait if you did! :)

Hey Joel, lucky you! It seems that happens a lot on routes where First Class isn’t sold. So First becomes Business, and Business becomes Economy. I had the same thing last week and I flew Business but with an Economy service. I’ll show it soon! Hope you enjoyed your flight in Business as much as I did. Take care buddy!

Thanks for doing this review in KU. Having been born and brought up there it’s great to see this. Love their new modern livery. Has their service improved as they were not known for that when I flew them back in the 90’s. The Kuwait airport has changed a lot as well.

I fly the EK B777-300ER a lot, but to BOM it will be perhaps next year.. I still need to try IndiGo and Spicejet before Emirates yet again..!

Dubai is always that empty at that time, I love it. I’m out in 5 minutes and there is nobody on the roads. I’m flying the El Al B787-9 after tomorrow. This time I depart from Dubai so I don’t risk missing the flight due to “security” reasons. I’m looking forward to it! Take care buddy!

Thanks Ali! In the GCC Kuwait Airways is the second oldest after Gulf Air, I believe. They have been around a lot however they’ve been more conservative like Saudia.. So they never really focused on being an airline to fly other then if you kind of have to go to Kuwait and such.. More coming up soon!

it’s been operating since 1954 , however it’s a very local airline and it’s aim isn’t to be a worldwide carrier like emirates and qatar. it mainly serves its routes for the kuwaiti residents and citizens. they’re working to expand the airline soon in some ways within the next years

It was quite short but the flight is short and Indont want to spend more time in a terminal then in the air..😅 But glad you liked it!

Saw their new painted A 330-8 recently in Frankfurt. I don't know KA at all but we can be glad to have them as a reliable customer ( Airbus ). Without our partners from the Gulf states we could shut down our country and go home. Must be said sometimes. Especially nowadays everyone is hacking on Qatar. So thank you to Qatar Airways from Doha, Emirates from Dubai, Gulf Air from Manama, Etihad Airways from Abu Dhabi, Kuwait Airways from Kuwait, Air Arabia, Jazeera and all the other precious customers in the Gulf region.

That’s a nice way of thinking by you. Yes, great customers indeed. I really wonder what the whole Qatar row is about. I think it’s just the Mr. Al Baker trying to show who’s the boss and it backfired. Without doubt the GCC countries (and of course many others) have pumped billions into Airbus. Whatever creates progress is good. I’m looking forward to see many more Airbus planes, specially for the A350’s in my home of Dubai!

I've tried KU on a FRA-KWI-BKK-KWI-FRA routing before Corona and was pleasantly surprised. Their 77W are very comfortable even in Economy class. KWI was much below my expectations though. The airport offered very little seating and I've encountered dirty and broken toilets in the restrooms. Spending around $35 on the KU lounge access was worth it

Of course Marc! CEO would be the Airbus designation for the “Current Engine Option”. SL is for sharklets. And I can go even deeper into A320-111, -211, 212, -214, -216 but that’s for another day! Have a nice weekend Marc!

Absolutely! I almost took them this summer for my family holidays but I eventually went with Etihad as it was faster for me. If you don’t mind not having a drink on board then Kuwait is good and affordable!

do you know why some of kuwaits planes have different liveries? some have a new modern livery and some have a "retro-styled livery", but i dont know why. do you know?

One is the new livery and the other is the previous one. The classic A320’s have not been repainted yet. Don’t know if they will either, but I like that you get the chance to fly different liveries!

how did you know it was flaps 2 and not flaps 3 that was set during takeoff ?

Excellent question! Hard to spot when seated in the front. You actually can’t. But I will feel it. I can also feel it when they get retracted. It also takes longer vs flap 2 retraction. It sounds totally crazy, but hey, I’ve flown the A320 over 500 times😂

It might be just the camera you’re using, but that take off is unusually quiet.

The NEO is usually that quiet, specially if you’re seated right next to it. That’s the quietest spot.

@@TheLayoverAviation from Paris or London. Avoid flying from Frankfurt with Vistara because VT-TSQ is deployed with another(Hainan) configuration. Extremely tight and very uncomfortable.

I know terminal 3 is the largest manmade structure in the entire world where it is an airport within an airport and can function independently without Terminal 1/Concourse D and Terminal 2, but does DXB also have the longest runway in the entire world as well???

At 16:36, apparently one of the A380 recently got reactivated into service from the makeshift boneyard at DXB DWC.

I think it was just there for temporary parking/maintenance, that plane, A6-EEK seems to have been performing flights before. But yes, around 75 A380’s are currently flying so more and more are returning.

Dubai Duty Free is too tempting. Stay away from it because you will never leave until you shop till you drop.

It used to be so incredibly affordable so it was unavoidable. I remember looking forward to transit in Dubai back in the 2000’s to buy some new phone and such. Now it’s kind of like the rest..
