TRIP REPORT | Perfect Flight on the Biggest 787 | Abu Dhabi to Kuala Lumpur | ETIHAD Boeing 787-10

Etihad Trip Report flying from Abu Dhabi to Kuala Lumpur onboard one of the Etihad Boeing 787 Dreamliner on a beautiful winter day.
A comfortable flight from Abu Dhabi to Kuala Lumpur onboard Etihad's Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner on a perfect night and day over Southern Asia.
We started our journey with the most incredible view I've ever had of an airport: the first impression of Abu Dhabi's new Terminal A, still outside the building, leaving you without words. It is enormous, not only in width but particularly in height: to see the top of the building you'll reach your neck's maximum deflection. Just incredible for such a gigantic building.
After visiting the main parts of the airport and doing some planespotting, we boarded the Boeing 787 that would take us to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We took off from runway 31R, which means exactly towards Abu Dhabi downtown. The views of it, including the area of the Formula 1 circuit and all the Bay were stunning.
We made a 180° turn and set course towards Muscat, flying in parallel to the Oman coast. From there we entered the Indian Ocean. We entered India to the south of Mumbai and crossed it in the darkness of the night. We left Bengaluru on our right and entered the Bay of Bengal.
We crossed the Gulf of Bengal flying towards the Strait of Malaca, one of the most important cargo ship paths in the world. The Sunrise took place somewhere over the Bay of Bengal. After a nice overfly of Sumatra (Indonesia) and the city of Kuala Lumpur, we landed on time in Kuala Lumpur after a nice approach.
About the catering service, around 1h after takeoff the crew offered the dinner. I must say it was one of the best dinners I had on a plane in a long time: the potato salad was amazing, the chicken with rice spiced with Indian spices was superb, and the dessert was the perfect final touch.
2 hours before arrival, a pre-landing snack was served. In this case, it was some kind of warm vegetable pastry and a mousse dessert, together with drinks.

Great flight and great video. Abu Dhabi's airport terminal A looks so futuristic, big and modern! I really want to visit it). Etihad has a good service I guess it's like middle between flydubai and Emirates I guess. I like how tge b 787-10 wing looks like. And about Premium economy on b777 I didn't hear about it, but I think it's not the best idea for 777

I took this flight on December 2022... during that time they still use the old terminal and for me the old terminal are really small to handle a lot of passenger... but overall the food was 👍 👍 👍🎉❤❤❤❤

Sí, bastantes veces de hecho. El aeropuerto de Singapur está en otra liga... no obstante, poco a poco otros aeropuertos se van acercando, como el de Doha, por ejemplo. Me alegra que te haya gustado el vídeo! :))

Etihad catering service in economy class used to be the best among the major airlines back in 2013-14. It's sad to see it has been struggling to be in better position like before after the covid. I had Flown many times from US to south and east asian countries with this airlines. Always had a great experience.

If you love aircraft’s you should definitely check out the EAA Airshow (Experimental Aircraft Association) It’s held in Wisconsin during the summer. With an average of 10,000 planes flying in and out during the 5 day event. 😊

Thanks for the nice report. I am a commercial pilot. I would differ with your definition of a CB. When those cells have anviled-out I avoid them period. At that stage they are likely dropping precipitation and possibly hail. As you stated turbulence is guaranteed. Our policy is to stay at least 10 nm (if ATC allows) clear of these cells as clear air turbulence is frequent around these cells as well.

That's for sure, actually 20nm is what I "heard" is the recommended distance from an active CB, but as you said, 10nm is the minimum. Thre's not an exact definitition on when you change from calling them twc, cb or just cumulus. Sometimes from the very begining it's clear what it's, but there are cases like the ones on this video that are near the boundary. What it's for sure is that they are always avoided.

Nice report as always sir👍I think the -10 will in time become a very good aircraft for Boeing, the CASM on medium to long haul must make it the best aircraft currently in service that can achieve this. Also this time round Boeing made the 787-8 -9 and 10 as one family, where the 767 was just the -200 and -300, and then a large gap before they brought out the -400 which was by then to late. Then maybe Boeing could give the -10 a new larger wing, landing gear stronger or even a triple bogie and bigger output from the engines and they will have a very capable long haul aircraft.

Muchas gracias! jajaja me ha gustado eso de que "va cuando le da la gana". Supongo que te refieres a uno relativamente pequeño que está bastante más cerca al fuselaje. Se llama "flaperon" y como su nombre indica funciona como ambos. Especialmente a altas velocidades, con las alas tan grande que tienen estos aviones, si se usasen los alerones de las puntas de la alas, la fuerza de tensión sería demasiado grande en la base del ala. A la velocidad que van en crucero, para lograr maniobrar se necesita muy poca deflexión del alerón. De ahí que el flaperon sea el que actua en crucero. Pequeña deflexión y más cerca del fuselaje. Hace el mismo efecto y causa mucha menos fatiga al encastre de las alas. Saludos

On many 787 aircraft the cabin crew lock the windows dark.....did they do it on this flight...or did you ask them to open yours?

That remark at the end of the flight made me realize something. I never saw a pilot going to the wc. Even no flight attendant as far a s I can remember, although they could be going in a lavatory behind me, which I wouldn't notice. Are they choosing a time when everyone is asleep?

Yes, I agree. Still I've seen much faster PA's. For me the perfect ones were those made by the purser on the las British Airways flight I've uploaded on the Boeing 777. Perfectly paced and pronounced.

Inches aeropuertos tercermundistas de 5ta, deberían de conocer el AIFA, que es el aeropuerto más moderno y tecnológico del mundo, que del mundo del universo, además de que es base de una de las líneas aéreas más importantes con miles de aviones ( bueno solo hay 2 ahorita, pero en unos meses, putss) de los más modernos y sobre todo porque ambas fueron concebidas y bendecidas por el mesias tropical de Macuspana.
